Something for all you 'chrome Haters'....
For those of you wishing to black out your chrome by painting, here is a link to a paint site. They sell base coat and clear coat paints in factory colors pretty cheap. I've seen photos of a finished Joey mod in Chili Red over on Motoring Alliance and the color match looks spot on. I ordered door handle covers form Aesthetic Creations and plan on using this to paint them when I get them.
Cheers.

Porthos,
I have no idea how well it would stand up. I haven;t used it. I think like everything else that it is painted, it WILL chip. I drive almost exclusively highway. You should see all the little annoying chips on the front paint as well as the vinyl wraps on the front. We won't even discuss my windscreen.
Stuff on the front i think would be better to be wrapped in vinyl since it would be easier to repair than repainting.
They sell a primer also that would probably be a good idea to use if the paint is not sticking.

The problem is that paint just won't stick to the plastic chrome. I have had mine painted and whatever Minspeed did held up awesomely but, when I got in my fender bender it chipped up real bad and the shop that fixed them the paint is just chipping to crap
prep
Prep is key
Sand down the parts with 120 grit paper make sure its sanded pretty well
Then spray a couple of coats of plastic primer, wet sand with 2000 grit
And paint with a couple of coats of ur color choice
Let dry for a couple of hours

Sorry but if its in the front, nothing beats vinyl. If painting is a must, just invisible shield the potentially harmed area.

I sanded my headlight rings down really well, 1 layer of primer, then applied 2 or 3 coats of ppg matching dark silver paint and havent had any issues with rock chips. My car has been on 600+ mile road trips and through michigan winter.
Don't forget to use the clearcoat to make it look better and protect the paint.
