Interior/Exterior application advice help?
application advice help?
I absolutely freakin hate the chrome beltline trim on my car. it doesn't line up worth a crap and IMO sticks out like a sore thumb. I ordered some outmotoring blackout tape tonight. do you guys have any application advice that the instuctions dont mention to make blacking out the beltline idiot proof. my whole intention of getting this stuff is to make the beltline pretty much invisible. Thanks all. cheers
The warmer the weather the better. Above 70 is ideal
But do not apply in direct sunlight if it is hot out.
Wash the car
Clean the chrome and adjacent rubber strip area really good with rubbing alcohol
wipe chrome down to make sure it is clean from lint
Make raw cuts first between door/fender/boot panels ect, and then go back and make fine cuts at ends with exacto knife or razor blade
let it sit and cure for few hrs.
go back and carefully remove top protective layer from tape.
Be careful not to stretch the tape during application. Take your time. I did mine about a year ago. The ends are tight and do not lift up after many washings.
Good luck.
