Home made iPod bracket for FREE

I had some leftover steel bar stock from this project, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...e-install.html,

and decided to make myself a bracket for my iPod. The ends slightly curve in while the back pushes, squeezing the iPod into place. I covered the bracket in double sided tape, wrapped it in this felt bag I had laying around, and stitched the open seams closed. I used double sided tape to attach it to the interior.

When the iPod isn't in use, I just toss it underneath the passenger seat, nice and concealed.

What do you all think?

Nice. Great design, idea using a friction fit. Sometimes simplicity is just the best road.

Any chance you can make a thin aluminum hidden bracket for the holder to attach to ? Lift up the Elect Mirror control cover plate and maybe attach a thin bracket end down inside the opening screw it down and then put the cover plate back on leaving enough outside to attach your holder to ?

I was thinking of that but I don't think there would be enough clearance to squeeze the aluminum through. I could probably go from underneath the gray console area, however. Just need to figure out how to lift it up and see if there are any bolts down there.

EDIT: After viewing this picture, I could probably just make a thin L bracket, loosen those two screws, wedge the L under the console, and tighten them back down. I think that the pressure would be sufficient enough to hold it in place.

EDIT: Decided to paint the bracket stand flat black, and rewrap the bracket with the opposite side of the material (more of a nylon material, less prone to collecting dust and dirt) with the screw hidden under the wrap. Stay tuned.
