Adjust headed seats

Is there any way for either me or the dealer to adjust the headed seat levels? It seems much cooler than on my last cooper, and I'd like to crank it up a notch. If its adjustable, how?

There is a service bulletin to adjust the heat level. Your dealer should be able to handle it. See this: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...Adjustment.pdf

Hmm at the bottom of the service bulletin it says, "Reimbursement is limited to 36 months/100 000 km and only possible until March 2007."

Wonder is they can still perform this and if they'll charge me now.

Of course they'll charge you! The '04 in your sig is out of warranty. But even if you were still in warranty, MINI will not reimburse a dealer for performing the service after that date.

You can check if the adapter cable (part# 61 10 0 152 026) is still available, and install it yourself. The replacement seat cover they mention (if you don't have it already) would be quite expensive.

I've had MINI dealerships perform work for free outside of my warranty. Im not sure if it was a recall or service bulletin. Is there a difference?

It's not a recall. It's a "do this only if a customer complains" service bulletin. MINI will no longer reimburse a dealer for this issue, so at the very least you'll have to pay for the part.

It is possible that they could "Good Will it". Not likely, but if you have a good relationship, it is possible....though unlikely. You never know....

Is it something I could do myself or have a local imports garage do?

Sounds like you need to buy a part from MINI at the very least. Might be possible to rig with a rheostat....but might not be worth the risk of frying or lighting something on fire!!!
