Does anyone have any ideas on securing a spare in a MCS? It's definitely not safe to just store one in the boot. In a panic stop or crash that's a lot of weight behind you flying forward. I wouldn't trust bungee cords for the same reason. Are the tie down hooks strong enough? Could you install something stronger bolted through the rear cargo floor and use straps?

I'm carrying my spare on the folded rear seat. It's secured to the rear tiedowns by 2 "industrial grade" rubber bungees. So far during very spirited driving and a couple of very fast stops, there hasn't been a problem.

I haven't, and don't want to, run into anything solid, so I can't attest to how that would go. I do have the feeling that if the force was ever great enough to break the bungees, they would have already slowed the tires forward momentum tremendously by the time this happened.

if i had to do it, i would get a 4x100 donut and do what Moorlockx did.
strap it down to the folded rear seats. i would also attach a harness
from the center of the donut to the rear of the car just in case you
have frontal impact and your donut doesn't hit you on the back of the
head.
