chop top MINI

I was driving home yesterday and was thinking that at 5'8, I have a lot of clearance over my head. while it's way too much effort (in my opinion) I was wondering if there is anyone out there that chopped the MINI (duece coupe style) just lowered the roof 2-4 inches. maybe even lowered the front more than the back.

Anyone good with photoshop want to give it a go?

I love this idea but have not done anything.
It could be done but the hard part is the glass. I had a friend who chopped his bug many years ago and glass was always the problem. He was getting a new windshield about every two months.

I would love to see a chopped MINI, even if it is only photoshop.

see that's just phatty! no making fun that I just said phatty :-)

I've heard that chop-tops have glass problems, I can imagine a lot of issues coming from it, but damn if that isn't SEXY..

Check with local hot rod clubs/builders for advice on glass - who they recommend and who to aviod.

I can't get past how much it looks like a minivan. Probably just because there's nothing to reference size in the picture.

Roof needs a rear rake.

The car would have to be at least pretty hammered. An all stock car with a chop would look ridiculous.

You would need to lose the side impact airbags, and work about making all new pillar trim pieces. The glass isnt that big of a deal, there are a few companies that will make new glass for you if you give them a good template, probably out of lexan.

Here's mine, I even shaved the door handles:

OOPS. I had to delete the pic from my list in order to post some other photos. Sorry.

But if you look at the previous pic of the chop-top MINI and imagine no door handles...that would be it.

Was all for this idea until I saw it. Ugly, we're all screwed.

I wouldn't do it, but it gave me a reason to play with Photoshop!

...Would do a little towards a lower center-of-gravity (better handling), too!

This would look better if it were more like a traditional "fastback" (think: Celica), and less like a "wagon". This only serves to make the already too-long-looking roof appear even more disporportionately too-long.
