updated headliner issue!

Hello all I hope you guys can help me on this small issue, I have an 02 cooper s and had been updating the old parts with new parts and had an 06 headliner sent my way with the extra sunshade and grab handle in the front of the car. as you may know there is no hardware to connect these two (the sunshade and the grab handle) to the upper sheet metal and it looks as if there is space in their for a adapter of some sort, what I need info on is do any of you know what part I need or have any pics of your 05 or 06 with the headliner out that would show the brackets or just a pic of the handle or sunshade removed to see what is in there, just wondering if I may need to find a wrecked 05 to 06 and cut the sheet metal off but it seems to me that MINI would not change the body in white (car body shell) or sheet metal just to add a grab handle, they usually just use a bracket of some sort.

thanks all for your help!!!!!!!!!

Check this thread, posts 5 and 6. The link to what you want is in post 5, and a follow-up by the person who did the work is in post 6.

The brackets will not work with the 02 MINI as they are and there are none that will. You will need to bend the brackets until they fit. Start by pulling them out to make them more flat. You will need to move the airbag out of the way. Once you have them where it fits right, you will need to drill the holes for them. Make sure the airbag is back in place and use screws to secure the bracket. It is not hard to do, but it is a PITA to do. The sun visor, I just bent the brackets and screwed the visor on to them without securing the brackets to the roof since it is not something that is hung onto and it has been fine for a year now.
