Replacing automatic shifter?

I have a 2004 MC auto and am wondering if there is any way to remove the stock shifter handle/****? I bought my Mini used and the chrome part of the shifter handle looks awful, and its also kinda torn up at the end (assuming from the woman previous owner who wore rings)

Any ideas?

Short version - you can buy an OEM replacement ****. Or you can retrofit something else and lose the "lockout" functionality. ***** for MINI manual shifters may *kinda* work, but there are some differences.

You just pull it to remove it if thats what your asking

Be careful tho cause it takes quite a bit of force and when it goes, IT GOES.

Ive heard of people smashing their hands up pretty bad. I personally have gotten rug burn on my elbow from the seat twice. Open the sunroof if you have one
