Plasti-dip peeling...

I'm feeling kind of dumb in hindsight for using some bug and tar remover on my car today when washing it. I noticed two spots where the plasti-dip have bubbled in a splatter like pattern and looks like it'll start peeling soon.

You guys figgure the bug guts sitting on the car for a couple of weeks (I know its bad, but been busy) did it, or the bug-tar remover crap?

Just debating redoing the plasti-dip, and obviously not using the bug remover crap again, or getting them vinyl wrapped...

I had the same problem with mine, but I never used anything like that on my car. I park the car under a tree most nights and lots of birds crap on it, so I kind of think that's what did it. I'll probably get everything vinyl wrapped eventually, but for now, I just re-plastidipped everything on my car in just a few hours. Plus it only costs 6 bucks a can so you can't really go wrong just redoing it, and It peels off so easily when you're starting over.

I recommend vinyl wrap for the beltline + door handles and sanding and repainting all the other chrome. It lasts for a very very long time and is more durable than Plasti-dip.

Well, I drank the Kool-Aid and was hooked....until just now. I tackled the chrome grill and headlight rings. All looked great. Then I was wiping around the headlights and the cloth rubbed up against the ring.....
This stuff will never last a good car wash. Anyone want a half used can of Plastidip?

I usually wash my car every other day, including the stuff I've Plasti-dipped, and it's never worn off. I do 3 coats, 30 minutes in between each, and let the piece sit for at least 8 hours before putting it back on my car.

Well, perhaps I'll reserve judgement until I let the stuff fully cure. I certainly hope you're right b/c I spent the better part of the entire weekend Plasti-dipping the shiny bits.

As an aside: you wash your car every other day???

Sorry to revive an old thread... But do you think the plastidip will hold up to a brushless car wash?
