Hey guys,

After thinking about this further (since I am now seriously considering doing this mod to my MCS now  !!), I think that the Z8 start button is the only way to go. I even popped out my Z8 button in my M3 to get an idea of how it would look/fit in the lighter socket in the MCS. Although the bezel is bigger, it looks like it should still fit in the lighter spot with a little work with a Dremel tool.

Here is why I think the Z8 button is the way to go IMHO......

1. The Z8 button just looks better. It is black with a silver bezel, which is a perfect match for the interior of the car. The red S2000 button just seems out of place in the car.

2. The Z8 button feels better, especially the tactile feedback of the button. I have driven an S2000 and although I am not saying that the S2000 button is a cheap Radio Shack button, the Z8 button is just better.

3. The Mini is made by BMW, so shouldn't a BMW part go in it ?!?!

I am not sure of the cost of the button by itself, but I can bet it is not cheaper than the S2000 button. I am sure you can get a good price from Classic Mini. The part number for the Z8 switch is 61 31 8 377 343. You will also need the "plug" that goes into the back of the button. Unfortunately, BMW no longer has a part number for this "plug" so you would have to work with your local dealer to find one that will fit.

Found a start button with harness for $135.00 on http://www.hms-motorsport.com. Click on "online store", then look under MINI Accessiries, click on styling, chrome, to view pic, part # cd21300B. It's on the bottom of pg. 1 of the chrome parts. I e-mailed them to discuss difficulty of installation..What do you think??
