I just got quoted $250 for 35% 3M window tint for my MCS. No sunroof. Just the front/back windows and rear windshield. Am I crazy or is that a little high?
The only other car I had tinted windows on came with them so I'm really unsure as to what's a fair price.
Well then I will not go with them. Seems like they are a little high. He was quoting me well over 1000.00 to do the full nose clear bra too. Said he was gonna have to take off the emblem, headlight rings, bonnet stripes, fenders, etc...
I paid that for my maxima back in 2002 that was for all windows and the sunroof. Don't know what my mini's was since the dealer did it before I picked it up.
I agree with JudgeS. A lot depends on the area you live in. But, $250 sounds really high. You want to make sure they use a quality tint and see what kind of guarantee they put on their work. The place that did mine guarantees his job for as long as I own the car..
I really hate how there is a "ring" around the tint where the little, round black circles are on the borders of each window. Is there a way to avoid or get rid of it?
35/20% 3M tint on windows + 20% on the sunroofs for $265. The same shop did my Subaru and did a great job. They are also the shop that does the after market tints for the new car dealerships in the city.
Is it a "factory tint" job, where they go ALL the way to the edges of the window, or a cheaper tint job where there's a gap between the tint and the edge of the window. That extra 1/8" is expensive.
I did 35% Formula One Pinnacle Series all the way around. The reasons that I chose it over cheaper places are that it had 60+% Heat Rejection, UV protection, and a lifetime nation-wide warranty. So if my tint ever gets screwed up, no matter where I live in the US, all I have to do is go to a shop that carries Formula One and they will repair/replace it for free. Total it was about $340.

Lifetime warranty here and tint that goes to the edge

If it's like mine where the water kept the film away from the glass when they installed it, you should be able to just push it out with your finger. Or take it back to where you got it tinted and have them heatgun it and smoosh it back down.
@ OP - mine was ~$300 for 55% Matico Charcool on the sides, back and sunroofs.

The glass is actually smoked with a "factory tint". It's not a film. (Well, a film is probably bonded between the layers of glass at the factory.)
The guy who did mine basically took it all the way to the edge, but there's still an ever so slight fraction of an inch back from the edge to keep it from peeling back.
