Has anybody done this? I'm interested in what it would cost for a quality paint job, before I get carried away imagining ordering a MINI and having the roof done (no, I'm not really interested in roof decals). Particularly, what would it cost for a sunroof-equipped MINI? I've never had any paint work done on a car before, so I don't even have a clue. $500? $1000?

 

I have no idea about cost. But I know Sarcux painted his own MINI.

I'd believe your only limitation is your own imagination! You can have anything painted on your roof. I'd imagine the more complex the design the more it would cost you.

OK. So, this is the story of Panda MINI. Originally (on the lot), Panda MINI was PW/PW. She is now PW/B. Because of the urgency with which I needed to purchase the car (couldn't wait the months to order exactly what I wanted), the dealer offered to paint the roof of Panda MINI black (no offense to PW/PW owners, I just think the car looks more balanced w/ a black roof). The dealer offered to paint the roof black (w/out voiding any warranty) at the paint shop used by the BMW body shop for $500.

I should note that I do not have a sunroof so, pricing may be different in your case but regardless of color, additional paintwork is additional paintwork.

It does help, thank you. If and when I do this it will be a solid color, but with the sunroof I should expect a bit of additional cost. From your experience, LP, it sounds as though $500 to $750 might be a good guess.
