Vinyl Stripes

So I work at a sign shop, and I want to get a thick stripe, and a thin stripe next to it over the driver's side of my car. I can easily plot the vinyl, but does anyone know how difficult it is to get the vinyl on the car?

Wet application method required for such a large decal......

You need:

A good exacto knife.
A good semi stiff squeegy, preferably one with a chamois edge, YOu can make your own.

A small spray bottle containing water and a few drops of baby shampoo.

Make sure you have a bowl handy of the same solution to keep your fingers wet while handling the decals too.....

As with anything, preporation is the key. So if you have an older MINI, I highly recommend that you wash the area first with Dawn dishwashing liquid and water to remove any wax buildup ect, and then clay the area well to remove the things on the paint surface you can feel but cant see. Those little specs of stuff on the surface look HUGE when a vinyl decal is pressed ontop of them. Make sure area is clean from any lint and apply.

BTW: MINI Badges are easily removed with dental floss and a hair dryer and re-installed with 3M tape.

There may be some other tricks of the trade here but this is what I do.

Haha, something like this:

I've never done any vinyl work before, but have been contemplating this strip design for awhile, I will be interested to see how yours comes out.

Yeah that's exactly what I want, only I want the stripes to be a little fatter than that.

I'm really liking the headlight tint on that one too.
