Interior/Exterior upper dash panel removal
upper dash panel removal
i need an easier way to remove the upper dash panel so i can put my carbon fiber airbag cover on. Anyone have any old links that might help me out? Thanks for your help.
supper easy on the 02-04 05-06 may be the same but i believe they changed some things i dont know
take a t15 and a t20 torx head
open the doors and youll see plastic covers pop those off remove the 2 screws that are on each side with the t15
take the t20 lower you steering wheel all the way and remove the tach there are 2 t20 screws that hold it on
once you have the tach off just slide the top part towards you and lift, this process takes 5-10 mins

Exactly what blkkouki said.
Basically the upper dash panel is held in place with the 4 torx screws, 2 on each side. Once you take those out, the only thing holding the dash on is velcro at the front edge (edge closest to you as you sit in the seat) of the upper dash panel. Overcome the hold of the velcro and the upper dash will come right out.

If it's an '02-'04 and you're talking about the passenger airbag cover:
Get a torx driver and a bit of patience.
You need to remove three screws from the bottom of the airbag cover (don't confuse them with the two or three screws for the glovebox, which are in close proximity) Then remove the top of the dash (two torx on either side, underneath plastic panels which just pull off.) From there there are three more torx on the top, as well as two nylon retention straps that require a 10mm socket - the one on the right is tougher to get to - use an extension.
After ALL the screws are out, lift up on the bottom (if you get any resistance, check for more screws) and the cover will pivot out. Note that in the top are three green plastic screw retention pieces. These just LOVE to fall out
and subsequently fall in behind the glovebox
as you wriggle the cover out. Be warned!
Note that it is a breakaway cover, so don't force anything, or you can find it breaking away unexpectedly. Only handle the frame where the screws go through.
