Projection lights in scoop

Has anyone installed projection LED's in their hood scoop? I removed my driving lights (I don't like the way they just hang out way in front of the hood) but the wires are still there are already hooked to the switch under the wheel. I was thinking of putting some white projection LED's in the corners of the scoop for a 'cyclops' type look.

I'm not talking about just two tiny spots in the corners. I was thinking more of getting the look of a wide headlight.

Act 04, the R53 hood scoop is functional, you really should not be blocking it.

Better hope your scoop lights won't melt it, like my scoop did. Getting a replacement this Monday.

Right, I was planning on only blocking a minimal amount by projecting from the outside edges/corners of the scoop. I haven't looked too closely at it yet, so I'm not sure if it's possible, which is why I was asking if anyone had done it.

Don't worry, I won't be doing anything if I have to seriously jeopardize my cooling abilities.

a problem you have is getting them to project right. the opening is very small in the scoop and i dont think you would be able to angle the light down enough so that it would make a difference when you are driving...

here is something i did a while back....it was kinda cool for a little bit.

I'd worry about blinding someone with anything brighter than dim glow - the scoop is much higher than the headlamps. I put blue LEDs in my supercharger scoop, but of course I never... well, SELDOM, ran them when the car was rolling on the road...

Thanks for the tips.

I was concerned about blinding people, especially since I hate it when I get hit by another driver's brights. Well, there's only one way to find out. I won't be able to get anything done soon (I'm at school now and won't have my car back until the end of Feb.) but I'll let you all know how it goes.

Malcon - sort of resembles Kitt - the smart car in Knight Rider - kind of neat looking. Could you make a string of LEDs ripple back and forth like a scanner?

Oznium has LED scanners, sure - see HERE - $179 to look like KITT seems excessive, but this thing has 2 million colors and even a programmable remote. Goes with the IceLED full 2-million body kit.

I've seen single-color LED scanners for lass than half this price on eBay, but I can't vouch for the quality of course...

Last year I built a 'Kit' red scanner and mounted individual red LEDs in the scoop, then built an adjustable scanning circuit, then connected all of that via isolating relay to my lock/unlock circuit so it would run back and forth for about 4 seconds each time I locked and unlocked the car. I also added a manual override switch so I could run the lights at will. I took some little movies with a point and shoot camera but the red LEDs don't record on my camera sensor like I would like them to... I'll try again and post.

That demo on the right on the Oznium site when the lights were blue would certainly catch the attention of the cops in my area... looks like big trouble.... I'd stay away from blue.

TweakedIce.com and look around.

Now way in hell would I pay over 50 for a kit of lights.

I have 10 tubes of neon on my car.
