Alta Light Bar

Does anyone know if this can be mounted in the upper grill?

If so how bad is the install?

I just installed the bar on my '04 MCS. I have pictures of it installed. Here's a link to the thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=34276

The install is kinda involved, I highly recommend you have someone to help, as you have to remove the bumper cover, and the bumper too. You have to drill through the bumper at very exact places, because the Alta light bar attaches to the back side of the bumper, then pokes through the mesh bottom grill. This bar is DEFINITELY only meant/designed to fit into the lower grill area, under the bumper; there's no other way it could possibly mount.

The bar is really well made, and by the way it mounts, the lights don't shake at all while you're driving.

If you have anymore questions, I'd be happy to help.

I'm hoping to mount in the same place as the stock driving lights, the upper grille, know if it can be done?

I don't know about the Alta bar but the Minisport bar mounts on the top like the factory lights. I saw it in person and it looked nice. It can hold up to 4 lights. You can see it at www.minisport.com. I liked how it mounted because it didn't vibrate like the factory grille mounted lights.

Favorite driving lights and mounts.

The lights will probably be my first mod upon getting the car.
I'm looking for something similar....4 large lights accross the grill, chrome backing. I've seen at least 3 manufactures with multiple mounting systems. I'm sure no one has experience with all of them. If anyone feels strongly about one or the other types please sound off.
P.S. I have read some of the other threads, so no need to link me to them.
Thanks.

I just took delivery of my '05 MC last week and am planning to install driving lights really soon.

I'm leaning towards the rally style light bar setup from MossMini.com. Its about the same price as the MiniSport package. I like the fact that I can preview the installation instructions on their website before ordering.

I have seen the Moss bar and the Minisport bar in person. The Minisport bar isn't going to vibrate like the grille mounted bars but the lights are bigger(which is good or bad depending on taste). I would think the Minisport bar might get in the way when working on the engine though. I have the factory lights and the install was straight forward and gave me the clean look I wanted. The lights do vibrate a bit. The Alta lights seem nice but being mounted below the grille is a completely different look. I like the look but I would be worried they would be easy to damage being so close to the road.I took this picture of a Minisport bar at a car meet. He wasn't completely done with the wiring. He said the install wasn't too bad.

I've seen a few cars using the alta bar with 4 lamps all set in the lower grill. They look great but has anyone in the warmer climates noticed any overehating problems as yet. It looks as if a lot of the air flow to the lower gril is restricted. Sure do look good tho.
