Interior/Exterior Removing dash just two screws?
Removing dash just two screws?
I would like to take out the dash piece above the glove box to vinyl wrap it. I have removed the two screws on the underside but it does not pop off. Am I being too wimpy i.e. I should really pull hard or is there a trick?
wow. almost 2 years and no one gave you an answer? that's amazing. this must be a boring topic.
i dont know if you're still waiting to do this but just for future reference for other members, i'll give you an answer.
There are several wedge snaps along the bottom(when closed) of the compartment door. You'll have to take a screw driver to lightly pry it out.
I just did this last night and was also hesitant on prying it out but i just went with my gut and did it. If you're still around, I hope this helps.

It helps me. I just got a R55 and the dealer threw in $500 in accessories. I got the checkered dash panels and no info on how to install them.
Right side has the 2 screws and tabs at the bottom you said, what about the the left. I have to remove the tach I guess but the new part has no screws. Does it just pop out or what.
Thanks in advance.
Hope I don't have to wait 2 years for help.

Good luck!
Pull the steering column all the way toward the driving position and there is enough room to get the piece out with out removing the tach.
BTW there a number of threads that explain removal of all the dash pieces here. In fact one of them has a great video about 4-5 minutes long.
Search may not be easy on this site with the built in search but use Google and do an advanced search using the NAM url and you can find just about anything you want to know here about how to take the car apart.
This might help. I'm getting ready to do the checker dash in my Cooper.

I've got a horrible vibration behind the ignition switch. I need to remove the that piece and coat it with some anti-vibration material and see if that helps.
