I wanted to know if people with a lowered MINI and have the Aero kit have scraping issues.

Do you guys feel like it's a hassle going over speed bumps?

Does your front apron scrape every time?

I just want to know because I'm interested in lowering my car and getting a body kit. Where I live has loads of speed bumps, so I really want to see if I could get both or have to choose just one.

Sooo.... how's it working for you guys?

i think if you are careful you wil be fine.

Ryan,

You are absolutely correct. Besides San Fran, San Jose is also a bad place for STOCK MINIs. At least for me, I have to be very careful at driveway ramps and speed bumps.

My first week of ownership, I scrapped the bottom apron twice at my home's driveway and had to place diamond ramps at the "dip" to avoid scrapping. At normal driveways into dept. stores etc., I have to make sure to enter and exit at an angle...very slowly to avoid scrapes.

This is why I haven't decided on getting my MCS lowered.

Ivan,

Think it through first as Daly City/SF sucks when it comes to lowered cars, especially because of the MINIs long front apron. Good luck in your decision. If you go for it, post pics okay.

With my 15" wheels and stock suspension my mini would scrap on steep driveways, not really a problem with the bigger 16" wheels...your mini will scrap with lowered springs especially in SF, just gotta be careful. You have to pay to look good!

Thanks for the replies everyone.

One last question,

Is the Aero kit's front apron the same size as the stock ones? Or does the Aero kit bigger and does it go down more than the stock?

You need to consider tire size on your 16's.

I have dropped my car for SEMA last year 1.5" with VOGTLAND Springs. When I run with my 205/45 Kumho V700's I hit some times and some thing's. But when I run my 205/50 Kumho Supra's. I do not have any problems.

You have more room in front of the lower 1/3 of the radiator with the areo kit. It sits about the same hieght.

Ivan, I have the Aero kit and the KW var 2 coil overs lowered to max allowable. I too scrape a bit on speed bumps. What I did before lowering was to measure the speed bumps in my area and then lowered accordingly. The areo kit has the same dimensions at the bottom as the stock unit. You can go lower by trimming the apron upto circa. 2 cm's and maintain support.

Hope this helps,

Have a GREAT day!!

If you have problems going over speedbumps go over them at an angle not directly straight over them...hope that helps
