Interior/Exterior Completed Jet Black 007 Cooper w.Lasers
Cool. Then I sure hope some idiot without as much knowledge about what they're doing as the OP (who at least seems to have a grasp on what he's doing, as opposed to some "oooo how do I do that??" someone who comes in here without a clue what they're getting into) doesn't decide to do something similar to his car and burn out your little sister's retinas or something.
Like I said, I *do* think it looks cool. I also think it's a really really bad idea. Not just for the OP, but for any other person without half a brain who looks at it, tries it without knowing what they're doing, and hurts some innocent bystander. I work in heath care, and I see a lot of things that wouldn't have ended tragically if not for some uneducated person (I'm not talking about the OP here) who did something stupid.
Everything else aside, you never know who you are influencing. Or how not-smart they may be...

Well why don't you just start a petition to have all laser pointers removed from the market. Or just start trying to have twinkies removed from the shelves at Walmart, because you have just as much of a chance choking on a twinkie and dying as you do getting blinded by a laser. Seriously, if you are worried about being blinded by dude's lasers, then you might want to be concerned about the guy that sprays nitrous on the highway, loses control of his car and hits you. Not to mention the cell phone talkers, make up appliers, too attentive parents, cheeseburger eating people, readers, etc that run rampant on our highways and streets. Seems like some of you found an easy target to try and bash around. Sure there are idiots who might not think this mod through and could result in some dire consequenses. Then again, there are more idiots driving around with bald tires that could result in some dire consequences than there are people with lasers on their cars.
...and text messagers.
I was wanting to say something similar but couldn't figure out how to do it.
Well put.
.....
honestly, If i was him (007 laser mini dude) I would put 500 more lasers on my car just to **** off these nay sayers. What is the big deal about putting a laser on your car. TO the people who are downing his very hard work- whack
Wow...
It sounds like he did his research while attempting to do this mod, and people jump on him? I'm sure hes aware of the legal, or other implications the lasers *COULD* have, but no harm is done if he plans on doing it for show and carefully.
Personally I think they look cool, I would probably point them straight down so it looks like you have these lasers burning up the ground as you go that would look cool as well. You should mount one of those laser box things DJ's use at parties and display it all over the road :P.
Again I'm sure he understands the implications of driving like this on the road, I think its a perfect way to find your car in a mall parking lot, screw the panic button.

then be gratefull for douchebags like me.
he's waving 200mw lasers around the city blindly, mine are 30's, in the country, aiming at the sky.
btw, that video was posted by a company, dragonlasers.
You know what it all boils down to for me? Everything can be dangerous.
But I like to weigh the level of danger with the fun factor, and then necessity. To me, and this is just my opinion, lasers are, in general, very dangerous, little to no fun (or use), and completely unnecessary. Taken all together, lasers on cars is a bad idea.
On a side note, to the people who put down the 'naysayers,' that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But it makes me wonder about those people's sense of 'me first and fock everybody else' mentality. I don't pretend that I'm the type to save the world, but I do believe in not going out of my way to endanger anyone else, either. If there was any chance that I could injure someone with something as useless as a laser in my car, then it wouldn't be there, no way, no how, no matter how 'cool' it may look to anyone. There is a ton of stuff out there to customize our cars that cause no more danger to anyone than the stuff it replaces, or is added to. Lasers ain't one of them.
Lasers are as useful, as my Dad likes to say, as t!ts on a bull.

No one is saying it is, but it's a two way street.
If the lasers are as useless on a car as t!ts on a bull, then I guess "20s on a MINI are as useless as this too, because I don't see the point in that. Maybe I should start a thread stating my personal opinions to everybody's different mods, and just tell them why there LED underbody kits are dangerous, or their 6 rally lights on the front of the car will blind people and cause someone to veer off the road. Sure, everybody is entitled to their opinions. The problem is, NAM is full of people who have crappy attitudes and put a whole damper on somebody's idea. Me, I couldn't careless about what you or anybody else says, I'm going to do what I want. However, some people might not handle the brash, arrogant comments towards their mod idea and might just give up on it. Just because somebody posts a comment against you "NAY Sayers", doesn't automatically qualify them as someone who only gives a fudge about themselves. Actually, the same thing could be said against all you who come in here talking about "I hope they prosecute you to the fullest." It's ridiculous actually. The sooner you wake up to this reality and see that your word is not the only one, the better off this place will be.
When it comes to safety, or rather, the obvious disregard for it, people are allowed to make what some may perceive as 'brash, arrogant comments.' In fact, brash arrogance is more out of place when it's combined with irresponsibility. But you may not see that.
You're allowed to not care what anyone else says and do whatever you want. There's a whole social studies lesson there but this is not the place for it.
I had stated that what I wrote was my opinion, my word is not the only one, and certainly not God's truth. The comparison of 'your word is not the only one,' and 'the better off this place will be,' would be good if the first part were indeed true. But it's not. So the comparison is invalid.
If one of these completely unecessary lasers does damage someone, it's not ridiculous to have the owner/operator of the laser prosecuted to the fullest. I'm not a lawyer, but it's called reckless endanerment, or disregard, or something like that. Any lawyers here have more info?
Rallye lights, at least in unlit areas, serve some purpose, and will not cause permanent eye damage if someone looks into them for a second. Neither can be said for lasers. In fact, high beams can cause momentary 'blindness,' as well. That's why we dip them back to low beam when there's oncoming traffic. Or maybe you don't do that. And I didn't know that LEDs are dangerous at all. Why would you suggest that? Are they dangerous? I used to have an LED wristwatch that I looked at all the time. Cars now have LED tail lights that can be seen by everyone. Are they dangerous? Why don't we put laser tail lights in a car that you have to follow all the time? Then tell me those are not dangerous.
If by '20s, you mean wheels, okay, you don't see the point in them, and coincidentally, neither do I, but they are not at all dangerous to anyone, except maybe to themselves on a bad road. We're talking about dangerous mods here, so what was the point of this? I had said that there plenty of mods available for the car that are not dangerous for no reason. Wheels fall into that category.
Most of the time I don't get this involved to this extent with a thread. But your social irresponsibility, combined with your logic, or rather lack of it, got my back up. I would prefer to not have to go over all this again, so if you have nothing new to say to any of this, I will let it stand as it is.
You have completely misread what I wrote. And your logic is flawed, as well. Everyone is entitled to post their opinion, especially when real potential (and, I'll say it again - unnecesssary) danger is involved.

Of course, I obviously touched a nerve, or you wouldn't have kept this up this long in the first place. Maybe I am socially irresponsible for taking up for someone who was getting harrassed by NAM police. Social irresponsiblity is also coming in here telling someone that their idea is dangerous, dumb, and pointless in the manner that you and a few others did. You can tell somebody their idea is dangerous like this..."Hey, I would suggest that you not do this. It would be kind of dangerous on open roads." However, you and a few others busted down the door and tried to shed the light of the law on this guy. "if you put lasers on your car, may your sould burn in Helllllll !!" So, if I'm socially irresponsible and as you so eloquently put it, have a lack of logic, then what do you call yourself? Sociopathic, hypocritical maybe. Leave the logic stuff to Soundwave and Shockwave. As amusing as this has been, I have no time for it.
Interesting that you use terms for others that describe yourself, and you don't even realize it. The only nerve you touched is your own.
<< Even when you think a backroad with a 35 MPH speed limit is clear of traffic, and you feel compelled to do 50 MPH, that's reckless endangement >>
No, that's simply speeding.
<< So, if I'm socially irresponsible and as you so eloquently put it, have a lack of logic, then what do you call yourself? Sociopathic, hypocritical maybe. Leave the logic stuff to Soundwave and Shockwave. As amusing as this has been, I have no time for it >>
None of that makes any sense. One thing has nothing to do with anything else. You bring in stuff from places that have nothing to do with anything in the discussion. I shall once again enjoy picking apart what you wrote, because you make it so easy.
How does your lack of logic, which you admitted to, btw, become a cause and effect to what you referred to as my sociopathic and hypocritical tendencies? When did I make any reference to myself doing something to harm society? When did I ever contradict myself or say one thing and do another? Unless you can point that out, there's no reason for you to continue.
<< Maybe I am socially irresponsible for taking up for someone who was getting harrassed by NAM police. >>
You do indeed appear to be socially irresponsible, but not for the reason you stated above. You had said, 'I couldn't careless about what you or anybody else says, I'm going to do what I want.' And the guy who wrote, ‘I hate when people say is this legal? or someone may get hurt! who cares. sweet mod!’ Those have the makings of true social irresponsibility.
The NAM police? No, not quite. People that objected to the lasers I am sure are concerned about the very real, and unnecessary danger they pose to others. Again, social responsibility.
<< Social irresponsiblity is also coming in here telling someone that their idea is dangerous, dumb, and pointless in the manner that you and a few others did. >>
Did people say ‘dangerous?’ Absolutely. ‘Pointless?’ Yes, or maybe 'foolish.' ‘Dumb?’ No, although I did use the word stupid. And please note, I called the idea stupid, not the person. There’s a big difference. Again, no, that's not socially irresponsible, posting on a message board. In fact, it’s not even close. On the contrary, it is quite socially responsible for people to look out for the interests of the greater good in society. For you to compare the society of a message board with society in general is ridiculous.
<< You can tell somebody their idea is dangerous like this..."Hey, I would suggest that you not do this. It would be kind of dangerous on open roads." >>
Quite a few people did say words to that effect, most with sound reasoning.
<< However, you and a few others busted down the door and tried to shed the light of the law on this guy. "if you put lasers on your car, may your sould burn in Helllllll !!" >>
No one said that. I just looked. Some people did bring up the legality of it, one (Motor On) with actual regulatory standards. Except for the ‘I don’t care what anyone says’ types, I think most people think that law, as it applies to this, and the potential, very real, and completely unnecessary and irreversible danger of it, is worth voicing an opinion on.

I think I've found my 6th grade math teacher !!!

Nice try, but no, my nerves aren't touched at all.

You are right, it is speeding, but see what they call it when you are charged with running into someone and killing them.

It makes perfect sense, you just have to use the brain that God gave you.

Sociopathic tendencies go wayy beyond just showing harm to society. Hypocritical, maybe it's just the way you say that you aren't being brash and arrogant, but you are. I think there are a few people who have posted in this thread, could very well say you are brash and arrogant

At least I admit that at times I'm socially irresponsible. Even then, it's so mild, it can be overlooked. I just think that you just think you are above everybody else. Typical New Yorker
. Personally, in the military, I and many others have to deal with people like you on a day to day basis. We call them officers.

I very much agree. I myself have voiced danger issues before, not just in this forum, but other forums as well. I just appreciate the calm manner approach. You have to admit, ML Pearson's original post did not exemplify social responsibility. She just opened up a can of worms. I'm pretty sure some people knew this would happen, but we live in America dammit, and it just isn't living the American dream without someone causing drama.

If you had read the entire thread, you would have seen where it stemmed from...
I'm done arguing. I work in the medical field and this is just like everything else - someone will have to be catastrophically injured in order for someone to see that what they did is devastatingly foolish. I see it every day. Twinkies and 20-inch wheels are not illegal. This mod is.

1. your an idiot.

3. I bet the officers at your branch/ base who have worked hard to be where they are would love to see this. What base are you stationed on again?( if you are in the service still)?

At least I admit that at times I'm socially irresponsible. Even then, it's so mild, it can be overlooked. I just think that you just think you are above everybody else. Typical New Yorker
. Personally, in the military, I and many others have to deal with people like you on a day to day basis. We call them officers.1. your an idiot.

You my friend are an idiot. Hunters enjoy hunting, its sporting.
Your Laser Mod wouldn't work in NYC. NYC doesn't play around with Laser Beams period. It is considered a terrorist attack and they will arrest you. The NYPD, DHS, and other agencies take that sort of thing serious around here.
A couple of years someone pointed a Green Laser Beam on an Air Plane...that guy got arrested and paid heavily for it.
