Hey guys I am looking for Euro style plates but I want to use my TX plate #

Example : "TX-123-456"

Maybe I can get away with this if I use the correct number or maybe not I have had my mini 2 weeks and it has no plates yet. I hate to drill the bumper it looks so good naked.

Thanks again
Eric

Hi,

Just thought I'd warn you. TX law is that you must have a "state-issued" front license plate. A euro plate with a TX number is not legal. Now, I don't know if you will be more likely to get pulled over with a euro plate than without a plate at all.

I can have them made in Germany and ship them out to you. they can only be made in 9 characters though. If people start to want them I'll try to make a proffit, but for now i'll just charge purchase cost and shipping. They cost 15 Euro, and I can have them out sometimes same day. Probably next day though. I would guess it would cost no more than 25 or 30 dollars with shipping. Its basically the Deutchlad plate. 13 stars in yellow around the Deutchlan "D" which resides in the blue strip on the left side of the plate. I'll ask if I can get different country designators.

This is my American one. Sorry, I can't get the US ones.

I'm thinking of ordering and found a US vendor. http://www.licenseplates.tv You can have your plates custom made with your Texas #'s, if that's what you want.

I'm not sure how good this vendor is, perhaps others have heard of or used them.

There are tons of vendors in europe that you can purchase from online....check other postings for more info.

you must have an MSC...luckily my MC bumper has a place made especially for euro plates.

Let us know how your search goes!!!!!

Where in texas are you?

I ordered my MINI from Momentum in Houston and they showed me this display sample of a euro-style license plate but instead of the D or E or whatever symbol they have in the Left hand corner, it's a pic of the state. They are legal, sold to you by the dealership. I was told they would start to offer them soon, and because they are sanctioned by the state, you can have them on both front and back. They look REALLY good and I plan on getting them when offered.

I wonder if cops will still hassle you about this, even though they are legal? Probably so, but the dealership should provide you some sort of proof of their legality.

I'll post more if I find out any additional info.

You can also get Belgian and Holland Euro plates
from Mr. Minit , do a google search for the URL
(my work computer self destructed itself, including
the favorites).

I have a Belgian plate on my olds (which I'm selling
to get an 04 MCS), no problems with it thus far in
MI. In TX, tho, where it's required, the cops will
likely give you the same grief vs. having nothing at
all...

A bit of warning, tho, I had my old German plate
stolen- so I now use strange screws so people can't
unscrew it!

OT- I'm in South Africa at the moment, the Eastern
Cape plates look really cool. They have an elephant
and tropical plant on them! For something a bit
different... Same size as euro plates.

I talked to my MA at Moritz in Arlington. He hasn't heard anything about it. There's a thread at http://www.metroplexmini.com about it there. Search for euro plate.

I get my euro plates here. I put my state license number on the plate and have not had any issues getting pulled over.

One cop I was next to at a light said that was the first time he had seen that and it was in the grey area of legality in washington. He warned that they could pull me over if they wanted to be a ****.

attention all: I tried to contact my MA today to get more info on this, as well as to discuss the impending delivery of my beloved. She didn't call me back! The nerve...

Anyway I'm planning on paying Momentum a friendly little visit here soon, will let you all know what I learn...

UPDATE:

I was told by my MA at Momentum that this product will be provided by an outside manufacturer working out a deal with Momentum. This product is still in the "works"; they are unsure when it will be offered. There is currently a waiting list of interested parties- they will contact everyone when the technicalities of the deal is worked out. They have been planning to release this product for sale through the dealership for several months now, and are expecting it to be available shortly. I couldn't get her to specify a particular date. If you are interested in getting on this wait list, PM me and I will give you the phone number to Momentum. I believe TIM is the guy working on the deal with this manufacturer, he might know more than my MA at this point.

I'm in the same situation except my MCS is registered in California. I'm pretty sure Calif requires a state issued plate on the front (which i've received but haven't attached to from naked bumper). I'd prefer to use a europlate and the same lic# to match rear. Suggestions??

spooney, thanks so much for the update....we'll keep our fingers crossed!!! I wonder if the euro plates concept will have to pass through the state for approval since there's been this recent a crack-down on appropriate display of plates. Still, Texas has so many approved plate styles now...why not one more?
