Finally Debadged

I took the 10 mins today to finally debadge my car. First mod, aside from the go-mini-go liscense plate bracket.

I used 50 lb test braided fishing line because that was the strongest stuff I had lying around. It also provided a little bit of cutting action on the sticker.

I then busted out the goo-gone. got the bottom edge of the foam sticker up, and pushed up to pull the whole sticker off.

There was some slight outline to the badges left on the paint when I was done, so I put some goo-gone on a microfiber and rubbed till it went away.

I busted out the wax, and gave the paint the protection it needs.

next up, blacking out badges and front grill.

Because the "S" is so similar to the one used on the Corolla S.

The most common reason is that people feel it looks "cleaner". I debadged as well.

My reason is that while I'm also proud to drive a (in my case Fac. JCW) Mini, I don't particularly want others knowing what I've got under the hood. Kind of a speak softly and carry a big stick philosophy. But to each their own.

Nice work!

I'm proud to drive a MCS as well.

It's cleaner without the badges.

I don't need to show off the "s"

Anyone who knows MINI's will be able to tell the difference by the spoiler, hood scoop, side scuttles, bumpers, exhaust, etc.

I think it looks good. I thought about doing this with mine, but It's not enough of a big deal for me to mess with it right now. although painting the "Cooper" part black would go nice with my blackout mods...hmmm....

Yeah I just recently debadged. A while back I had painted them black (cutting out double stick tape was a pain), but eventually after over 7 months the paint started to crack. So basically I have a clean boot for now because I am too lazy to cut anymore double stick tape haha. I like how much easier it is to clean and wax and everything because there is nothing in the way

^it works well, just make sure you're not rubbing against the paint, or you'll end up leaving lots of little scratches.

Nice work!
I thought about debadging my JCW when it comes in. However, I realized I'd be surprised if anyone who actually sees my car will know what JCW is or means. MINIs are pretty uncommon around here. Plus, people that know MINIs well would be able to tell from the brakes, exhaust, etc. anyways. Just my $.02.

OP, looks good!

Can anyone recommend a good double stick tape? I don't want the lettering to fall off from using less than ideal tape. I think I want to do this now.

3M outdoor double stick tape is amazing. Thats what I originally used when I rebadged. That stuff was stronger than the OEM stuff and that was after over 8 months of being weathered

......the HELL it does!....honor your R53 predecessors, and do it now.If that stupid lazy "Corollaesque" letter "s" stands for something besides sport,it will
be SUPERCHARGED.So maybe MINI should remove the "s" and replace it with a "t".TURBO-SHMURBO......oops,maybe it should be an "S".

Did the same thing last weekend. Due to my carelessness in pulling down on one of the letters, I ended up scratching the paint (not seen in picture).

I think I've read all of your posts and don't think I've ever seen an exterior mod! Everything I've seen from you (radar, gps, backup camera, dvr and videos etc) has been interior! Looks good!

you can put them back on if you feel as though you want them again... all you need is some doublesided 3m foam tape.

don't forget that stubby 4" Alta antenna in the pic. i've also changed the side markers to white lenses. that's about it with the exterior mods.

i'm definitely more car geek than a car nut.
