Painting the gas cap...how does it come off?

I am planning to paint the gas cap this weekend. Does the plasti-chrome seperate from the hinge piece? If so, how? I tried looking for a screw or clip but I couldn't see any. It does look like a seperate peice though.

Thanks!

It does come off and there is a thread out there some where that Lyle from Vinyl Styles put out. Do a search and you should find it

I can't help you with the second generation MINI, but if it's similar to an R50/53, then here's a gas cap conversion site. If you scroll to the bottom, you can see how the S-Cap attaches.
