Thanks! I've been making them 8 1/2 years; just a small sideline for me, but lots of fun.

Doug's a stand-up guy, and makes a great product Attached is the latest **** I ordered from him (3 total, including a #13 billiard ball), along with the first steel **** he made for me (the bulldog). I picked up the newest one in person, at MITM

Re: the heat - I just drove to/from Denver, where the car sat outside in temps frequently over 100*, and the **** was never too hot to handle.

And I can tell you that it was an absolute pleasure to meet Doug today and get a tour of his shop. Definitely top notch and very high quality materials. I got to see about 15 different shift *****. They are all great and the custom ones are a sight to behold. Pictures don't do them justice. Now, I just have to get the Wife to decide what shift **** she wants him to do.

He also let me drive his 09 JCW, which was a blast. We didn't go far, but I ran it through the gears pretty well in 1st and 2nd, then settled into 3rd. It is a beautiful little car.

And I think his cat likes me. He jumped into my Lancer before I left and I ended up driving about 3 or 4 miles before I noticed.....

Thanks so much for the tour, Doug! I had a great time and I am looking forward to hanging out with you in the near future!

And Wally says he'll be happy to go for a ride again, whenever it's convenient for you.

Rick and I were able to meet Doug at MITM and thanked him personally for the great work on our shift ****. And we picked up a cool e-brake handle too!

Do these ***** have the effect of lowering the overall shifter height on the R50/R53s as well?

They do not lower the overall height on any MINI; only my BMW version does that.
On any MINI, my shift **** is actually raises the overall height, by a little over half an inch.
Some people get confused, because when I originally began making these *****, they only fit BMW shift levers, and my website did mention the fact that they lower the overall height by over one inch.
You will not find any shift **** for a MINI that significantly lowers the overall height, compared to the stock shift ****.
