What Happened to the Boot Protection Liner Extension

Week old Mini owner here.
After reading a thread on the boot liner extension I decided that was the route to go. Found that Mini dealer no longer carried these, they were a 1st gen accessory. Why did they discontinue? Will the old part fit a 2nd gen?
I have a dog and will probably have large, bulky and dirty things to cart around. Any thoughts? Thank you.

You mean this:

I am personally more interested in this if I had a puppy:

Yes to the first link.

The "dog" liner is nice, but with the rubber/plastic extension I can always put down a blanket. The extension should be more versatile because it cannot be easily torn or ripped and the whole item will be much more fitted. Right?

I'm sure the fit would be good, but not great since they also fit the first generation MINI's as well. I personally do not have them, but am planning on getting them since the back of the back seats get pretty dirty with my golf clubs and other things being on them.

Please post pics if you do get them! I will do the same too if I get them sooner than you do.

The boot liner extension is designed only for the rear seats folded down, and may be good if you plan to keep them down most of the time. Otherwise, you'll have to take it out whenever you use the rear seats.

I went to a local fabric store and bought a couple of yards of a fairly heavy-duty black vinyl material to lay across the backs of the seats when I need to carry something heavy or dirty. Granted it's not fitted, but it won't tear easily and (the best part) it cost me less than $15!

Here's a link https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...extension.html
to how someone modified their extension to fit with the seats up. In speaking with Aaron at www.outmotoring.com he told me that the extension should fit (it fits his gen2) and that the only change in the gen1 to gen2 back seat was the placement of the seat release latches.
