Side Scuttle Attachment to Holder

Just put a pair of checkered flag side scuttles on my car.

Problem:
They don't stay clipped in very well to the holder, and the scuttle can be slid out of the holder without opening the hood VERY easily, while leaving the holder attached to the car! Scary.....

Has anyone glued their scuttles into the holder with epoxy? You would still be able to slide the holder off of the car to change the side marker turn indicator bulb, but the scuttle would be epoxied to the holder itself.

Any better methods?

I had the same problem and lost a JCW "grill" type side scuttle. When I replaced the lost side scuttle I used a hot glue gun to glue the slide clips between the insert and the holder to prevent the loss again. I haven't had any problems since. You cannot see the glue as it's on the underneath side of the holder, I would think epoxy or any other glue that will adhere would work fine. I'd remove your new scuttles and apply some glue as these guys aren't cheap! Good Luck

Thanks!

I actually used some adhesive along the bottom of the holder where the scuttle slides in and that seems to be holding well. However, your hot glue method sounds even better. I'll take the holders off of the car and give that a try too.

Just don't want them getting knocked off or "walking away" on their own!
