Interior/Exterior need new stripes
need new stripes
My Mini got a door ding in the hood, from a someone loosing control of their monster truck door on a rather windy day. I'm not too happy with the ding which is about 2 inches long and half an inch deep but that's life eh?
I'm getting my dark silver hood filled and resprayed at a reputable bodyshop and I will need to buy new stripes. I like the ones that came with my car, black with white pinstripes but there are two other mini's locally that are identical dark silver with black roof and the same stripes. I want to get some other style that looks as good but is unique (or more unique) to my vehicle. I think the mini looks funny without stripes so I do want to replace them with some kind of graphic.
I've checked the online vendors and I really don't have a good idea how easy these things are to install, especially the ones that would intersect with the hood scoop. I like the celtic knots style and I also flowers but I don't think they would look good in black on a dark silver car. the viper style ones look tough to install since they would involve cutting.
any ideas on styles? any experience on putting stripes on?

I found the top of the bonnet to the scoop to be easy. Below the scoop requires removing the logo, if you want stirpe there. Working around the compund curves of the bumpers is a little more difficult. One person recommended using a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the stripe and stretch it. Othewise, the edges won't be straight. You have to be careful not to get it too hot.
