Every time I get in my MINI and close the door I have to reopen the door to get the seat belt. It is typically lodged between the seat back and the door. If I simply yank on the belt it scrapes the buckle across the door panel. I notice that at least one "fix" sold by one vendor has been discontinued because it didn't work well and broke a lot. Anyone know of a working solution to this. I'm trying to learn to grab the belt before I close the door but with limited success.

 

Before you get out, make sure the seat belt reclines back up against the pillar.That way when you get in, its not hanging down..

Yup 8 out of 10 times I have to re-open the door to un-lodge it. Never had the same issue in the R53....

One caveat: BEFORE flipping the seat back forward, take the seatbelt out of the holder. I have had two snap when the seat has been moved forward abruptly and my daughter's hair got stuck in it once when she was coming out of the back seat.

Alternatively, when you get out of the car, pull the shoulder belt over the outboard seat side bolster so it rests on the front of the seat back.

 

Yeah, I had the same problem until I realized I could slide the plastic sleeve on the belt closer to the buckle while it's connected. This way it holds the buckle up above the level of the seat while it's retracted.
