Interesting part is, I almost got your color until I saw the Yellow.

Your car is exactly what mine would look like if I had gone that way. I definitely approve!

how long did it take you to remove the old door handles and reinstall the new ones?

Ditto on the door handles! That's all I have left to black out and it has caused me the most headaches! Please tell!

Handles are wrapped on the car using the same vinyl I used for the beltline, but I do plan to satin wrap the handles properly at a later date.

As for the Joey-Mod, this upcoming 3 day weekend will see that happen.

Awesome!!! goodluck and if you need any help, just ask...oh and just a bit of advice for the halogens...once the lens is off, the housing that has the main reflector and turn signals is easier to unattach if you only unscrew the piece that is held by 2 screws (20T bit) closest to the grill...everything else is easier to pop out of the little ball joints

I'll be placing an order with Lyle soon too... except some are body colored rather than blacking everything out.

you can get satin vinyl online. but i found it to be a pain to wrap the door handles in 1 piece of vinyl. I was using avery vinyl which worked alrite, but i think 3m makes a better product and next time thats what i will purchase.

btw, you should look into the domed centercap decals from AC. I painted the centercaps black then got the MINI wings domed decal and it looks like a factory wheel.

Ahh, the blackout bug... afraid it's bitten me too (see gallery).
Just starting but have handles, gas cap on order.
Anyone know how difficult it is to remove the front badge? I've heard the back one is easy (the old floss & heat method) but that the front was has some sort of pins also holding it.

Actually they both have pins sticking out, but those are only for aligning...that way you can never put it back on and not be centered or anything....they are both just held on by double sided tape

Thanks for the tips, man! That will probably help immensely.

Can't wait to do the Joey. Those lights are looking pretty bright now that the chrome is gone.

Haha yeah at first I thought mine was fine to just keep the chrome inside

Then I realized, I must be crazy haha

Oh and be careful with the screws that hold the turn signal bulb in place...that whole housing is some kind of ceramic and can crack easily...I broke one of the openings for the screw, but its fine its only the turn signal and 1 holds it in fine

Goodluck cant wait to see the results

I think I'm gonna keep the badges, but add black in the grooves.

As for the exhaust tip, I was thinking of that, but can't seem to find a black tip that will match up the satin. Anyone know of a good tip in that category?

Do you mean like a black that matches the black surround trim?
If so, Dupli-color High Heat 1200 degree black paint is perfect...here is mine painted and the black is basically a perfect match

Hey!!!

I still say painting is best, but thats just my opinion and some dont like paint that much....so, I don't know much on what vinyls to get...I'd say something that can easily bend, but can still take a hitting

The headlight rings are easy...open hood, and start to pry the clips that hold it to the hood...they are metal and will need a plyer or something to get them off

The taillight rings are even easier...get a small, very small screwdriver, wrap in a cloth, and wedge inbetween the lens and the ring...the clips hold it against the lens, so this way you can pop them right off

That would probably work. Got any full sun pics of that so I can see the color contrast?

Well that one is what I have best of the exhaust, but I used the same paint on my rims because of how well the match the trim

door handles as well

For those of you who have done the beltline blackout, how are you finishing it at the ends of the strips. I know it involves a blade, but where and how are you cutting it. Does the tape tuck under the rubber parts at the ends? Or do you have to cut the tape along the chrome up against the ends, which seems hard to be so precise. Please help me out. Thanks.
