Interior/Exterior GP style roof spoiler
We might as well kill this. The cost of the molds and 25 units is over 50K making each one 2K just to break even, not incl the dev costs to this point. Add in the cost of a new back glass and we are looking at 2500 bucks a unit.
Now if ya'll want to start an escrow fund where the monies are deposited and not touched until we hit the amount needed to go into production we can do that.

Interesting that the glass needs changing. I was under the impression that you could fit a GP spoiler to a standard MCS boot lid. I know a guy who has one, and all he bought was the spoiler, and fitted it himself. He still has the rear wiper.
I recently priced up the 3 parts of the spoiler needed and it was over $1600!

So it looks to be cheeper just to get the real thing?

How's this for just an idea.
If you eliminate the need to replace the rear glass, then you eliminate a big expense in $ and labor to do the job rite?
Ok, so after looking at this picture, what comes to mind is notice the upper portion of the spoiler? Bolt into mold goes there, through the rear bonnet.
lower half gets double stick tape. ( it sticks like a bolt on glass).
any thoughts?
yeah, i have a thought, i'm working with ARQRAY to get this for my car!!!
is that how the install works for this spoiler? this is the ONLY picture i've seen that isn't a motion shot of the car flying by on a race track..... it's a hell of a design and so far, the consensus from others is that i need to get it, considering the rest of my car is covered in carbon! been looking for a U.S. distributor of these, and since no one has it in stock, i'm going directly through ARQRAY to import one or two of them and see where it goes from there.....
if ANYONE has one in the U.S., feel free to start spilling the beans as to A) the install and B) the location of purchase! as a business owner, i'll start importing their products if no one else feels the need to share relevant information to the rest of NAM (big surprise there.......

)Maybe they will offer a volume discount. Ive seen at least 5-10 people within the start of this thread that would probably be interested.
especially if we can get it for say 700 with say 10 people?
As far as install goes, looks like a bolt and double stick tape to me. Im only assuming by the pics.
Let me know what you find out. I would be interested.

This one (for me) ...not so much.
From my perspective it's like night and day, I love the GP wing (and would spend too much to have one) but would never even consider this one.
That's the great part about Minis and this community, the individualism.
A couple posts just got squeezed in before my reply
for $1600 for the three pieces of the GP spoiler that is 1) NOT adjustable, 2) NOT carbon fiber, 3) NOT including the rear glass, and 4) NOT including stock spoiler hole covers.......... even $1K for the ARQRAY is a deal considering you get all that included as you don't need rear glass and it covers the stock spoiler holes! but don't let me be the one to tell you that using today's conversion rates, 95,000 Japanese Yen equals about $889 before shipping, so half the price BEFORE rear glass and the ~ $45 spoiler covers you can buy separately from parts on the JCW spoiler as pictured earlier in this thread with a closeup of the JCW spoiler..... sounds like a DEAL to me, and that's why i'm going for it, have fun with the stress from the GP spoiler and this replica!
will post info as soon as it becomes available to me..... i've never been one for keeping secrets like thousands of other members on this forum!
hmmm, the only contact info posted is a link to ARQRAY's website in Japan, and their address, phone, email, etc.... no U.S. distributor, which is what i was looking for.... in another thread for the spoiler, someone listed a U.S. distributor, Sector 111 (a primarily Lotus-related parts distribution company), in which they are NOT a distributor of ARQRAY products according to the woman i spoke with and whoever she talked to when she put me on hold - though it was obvious they didn't have their SHHH together when i called, so whatever....

PM me when you get some news. We can then post and see who else is interested.
If you want to look into ARQRAY, you might want to check one of the BMW forums like e46fanatics. I know there were people getting ARQRAY parts for their Bimmers a couple of years ago. Maybe still, but I haven't been keeping up with the e46 scene since I got the Mini.
I don't know much about these projects and the process to make the wing, but I have always felt it didn't need to be so in depth. Just because the GP has notched glass doesn't mean a replica needs to utilize notched glass. However, the proportions of the GP wing are just perfect. It's not an overpowering presence, but it sure does get noticed. It fits the lines of the Mini so well.
I think the ARQRAY spoiler would look a lot different from a better angle. Everyone is basing their reactions off of a crappy picture I think. Fastlane, maybe you could get them to send you some other photos of their product to better represent how it looks.
100% x2

I was involved in fabricating a cowl induction hood for a 65 F100 unibody p/up and there were close to 350hrs involved.
I talked to my fiberglass/carbon fiber guy last night about a replica GP spoiler...emailed him some pics...waiting to hear back to see if it's something he wants to get involved with.
I'll keep you posted.
I'll keep you posted.
