Did t955152 get banned or has he just not been on here for a while? I really want to see what a GP wing looks like on my car. Not something that looks almost like it, but something that looks a lot like it.

No -- read the posts-- he has to become a vendor to sell his products....
He said he would once his spoilers came in.

Technically he never sold anything did he. I just saw a guy that was trying to produce something that we all wanted. A cheap wing that looked like a GP part.

So I'm glad that the only guy doing this was kicked off the site. There goes giving the people what they want.

In the looks department, i think the after market kinda skimps out on the r56 and the r53 etc.. I've done every mod to help performance that i want. Now i'm looking to set it apart visually and feel like there is barely an option. JCW kits cost a fortune! Plus they dont even look that great IMO. There is definitely an untapped market for some wider wheel arches (r56). Or a nice (non rice) rear spoiler.

Frankly the market is pretty well served given the fact it is such a limited audience. I am just playing devil's advocate seeing as I would also love to see unlimited part options but there is a lot if you are willing to order if from Japan or Germany. Ironically, I'd say japan is probably putting out some of the less ricey, more OEM looking aero bits and you get what you pay for in exclusivity and quality. Even if it is fiberglass, the real aftermarket brands will spend the money on R&D that it will be proper. Fact is when you don't want to pay the price for the part up front I bet you will pay it back in trying to get it to fit cleanly at the shop or it breaking in the short term.

The JCW aero kit is the best value hands down and it's plastic. You can pay Hamann, Lumma, Schnitzer, Orciari, Priori or a dozen other guys who make nice-ish kits [depends your preference] and a lot of them were modeled in 2002 when the car was released so they are not going to be something very fresh. If people weren't making money on the R53 they were probably less inclined to start dishing out money for tooling parts for the R56. Plus the last of the R53's are coming off leases and warranty at least so more people will tune them.

Just my 2c. While I don't like any of the aggressive rear wings either, the Arqray rear wing trumps the GP style IMO. So does the MDH, both are 95,000 yen [bout $1000] but don't need anything and they are carbon.

As of now the only products I would buy are from Japan. (all of the three above are form there fyi) They cover both form and function. That is what the US market lacks. They have zero form and all function.

All I want if a nice looking part. I could care less if it works. And Terry was posting potential prices to give us an idea to see if there was a market.

It's just a shame that this site is all about MONEY and not about trying to get the people that love there MINI's what they want. Now that he is gone the ONLY spoiler in America that I would have bought is gone.

NotFunky, I feel you. I am busy trying to look for all sorts of parts that might add style more then downforce and the Japanese are the only ones pulling it off. The germans are even slacking. Once you import from either direction in small numbers you are done, the cost is so wacked. Can you imagine a garbino front lip in FRP is $600 landed in the US?! WTF is that? It is really a $200 part with $200 of trans-shipping and $200 worth of mold/marketing and your fee for exclusivity. Same's the case with Strassentech. The minute China figures out that you want that one and not the one Hamann engineered in 2002, they will be all over it and it will be priced 'appropriately' with a Racing Dynamics badge .

Bhozar is the the NAM user who's MINI I read and posted about with the rear GP wing fitted to a stock glass. Maybe he can answer any of your questions.

Here is a page from the article with a clear shot, incorporating the R52 brake light [looks pretty solid if you ask me and he tracks his car as well].
Lohen fitted the engine/gear box bushings, that's it. Gtt fitted a 3% crank pulley, and some new disks/pads. All other work has been done myself or by ThinkMini, who the OEM GP wing, front/rearbumpers, GP flat bottom, R56 straight through exhaust and a lot more. I did the cab brake light conversion myself one afternoon and posted instruction for a chap to do it last month on TotalMini. Fitted the cab light because I had the original brake light and aerial holes welded up and painted.

I think you can probably go through this thread and find me saying you can fit a GP spoiler to standard glass several times, usually followed by people saying you can't and wanting to know how will copies work around the problem. I wasn't the first to do it, a chap in London who is a BMW tech did it first. My problem was not wanting to pay full price for the spoiler, so waited until one came up on ebay for cheap.

The car has 80k miles on the clock now, has been on drag strips, race tracks and is my daily driver again. (Just sold my other car which I was running on cooking oil). It takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

Well I just talked to Terry and he said he is out of stock on them right now. But he is thinking of making another run if the interest is there. I would google his website and get his phone number there.
