Interior/Exterior GP style roof spoiler
yeah i called Mini of Monrovia in California today, they said the GP wing is 677 with tax it's around 710. I didn't ask if it needs a GP rear hatch or not though. but yeah, that wing is around 700 US dollars. not bad! I would love to get one tmr if it doesn't require extra stuff.
In my ETK at work, the GP parts don't even show up unless you enter the last 7 digits of an actual GP. It's not like on realoem.com where you can just select "Cooper S JCW GP".
The GP wing has been fitted to a stock rear hatch by a few guys in the UK.
Yea...you may want to double check that.

Id leave that price out of the equation beacuse of other options, like leaving the glass(since it can be done and is being done), or cutting it/getting it cut. Just my .02
Still very expensive =[

The glass on a GP is ground out for the brkts to mount to the hatch. A very experienced glass company may be able to do it. But, they wouldn't make themselves responsible if it cracked.
I figure if I want it carbon fiber, then I would do that myself or find a shop that would do it for me. Just having the wing would be enough to start for me. Do you have something more affordable in the works?

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...w_spoiler.html A little off topic, but does anyone know if this is just kinda a "Stick on" spoiler!? I cant seem to find installation instructions anywhere, but I remember some one saying that basically it just uses double sided sticky tape. To me, that doesnt seem very reliable for a spoiler. Emblems,JCW grilles, badges etc sure, but w/ downforce on the spoiler, wouldn't you want to make sure its bolted on!?
Now "Preping the area" where you are mounting it in the most important part of installing this spoiler correctly the first time.
I stripped all wax off the area with acetone and heated the area very well with a heatgun. Before anyone freaks out no Acetone will not strip the paint off your car if you use a little bit carefully to remove wax or any chemical sealent type products. In the past I have even used a light amount of laquer thinner to remove the residue from my "Cooper" badge. DO NOT let either of these two product sit on your paint of you will F your paint up bad. Next I heated the tape on the spoiler after I removed the plastic backing before I mounted it. After it was mounted I held it down in postion with painters tape from many different angles to keep pressure on it untill everything cooled down and set /cured. (About 3-6 hours) Just like a windshied replacement.
IMO The GP wing on a non-GP gives off the "poser GP" vibe.
(Yeah I said it)
Also the GP wind it is really not that functional unless your main function is to attact thieves or grab the attention of the police while you are speeding with a huge wing on your car.

Think along the lines of a car we have all seen somewhere in our travels.
Old hoopdee Honda Civic with a HUGE F1 style wing .....

I don't agree with you Chili. I think the GP wing is actually pretty subtle, you can hardly see it from behind. The JCW wing is more pronounced from behind and from the front. And the black sides of the GP blend in well with blacked out side windows.
They won't release pic's till the dragon from what I understand. There was a pic on here of a red cooper with the canards and some of the stuff they are coming out with, but I'll be damned if I can find it again. Not sure if it had the wing on it. I think the fellow who owned it was a test guy for their stuff. I can't remember if the car had the wing. I know their diffuser is in MC2.

All that wing is, is a JCW wing with side wings bolted to it.
