New taillights!

New APC's. Ive been wanting to change the back of the car and was looking at tailights. I havent found many that I liked to much till I found these. I think they compliment the black trim around the car nicely. it gives it a real racey aggresive look..

Im thinking about making the base body color. what do you think. it matches the black trim as it is now. or should I match the body.

I'm kind of on the fence. I agree that it looks nice with the matte black around the arches, but I think the tails would look real nice with the blue background. Hmmmm...I'm leaning towards blue I think.

I personally don't like body color trim/base. I had the same feeling about my old Jeep Wrangler... my Sport had the black trim but the more expensive "Sahara" version had body color trim and it actually looked less impressive to me.
Stick with black in my opinion.
Nice MINI by the way!

I think I'd get some vinyl the right color and wrap one of them first to get an idea of how it would look before I painted them... then it's easy to reverse...

Somewhat off-topic but:
why not paint the arches/trim on a car advertising body kit installation and painting? (better yet, go with painted aero-kit)

thanks for all the input guys i appreciate it. the photoshop picture was exactly the way i was thinking of painting it. leaving the round part black.
As far as painting the black to blue, ive been thinking of doing that as well. it kinda makes the sides of the car look a little longer, while making the roof look a little chopped. so I do like the look. as far as a body kit goes, ive seen a few that I like but they arent that much different then the stock setup, so to cut costs. I can paint the black and have a nice look while saving some $$
well looks like im going to be busy painting parts during this month. wanted to paint a few nick nacks under the bonnett body color also. ill keep you all posted.

Where did you get your racing stripes? I like those tail lights too, saw them on Ebay for 25.00+ shipping!

my guess is they dont come apart, so it'd be as difficult as taping them off

Dont waste your time on these. I had them until a bulb went out (only after like 3 months of use) and when I went to take em out to switch the bulb, the only way to remove them from the car was to break them. Quality is TERRIBLE. Im back to running stocks now.

Have these on mine. Of course Mushadd painted the silver black, so they look better. You can see them in my gallery or garage.

Sorry you had bad luck, but the quality is not bad. I've ran 3 sets with no problems. I had a pair on my 2003 Solid Gold Cooper, a set on my current car, and now the painted ones I got off Mushadd, another NAM member. I still have the orginal pair that I purchased. Now the Euro style lights I got from Moss MINI on the other hand were junk. Had to send them back 3 times because of cracks in the lenses.

You can kinda cross your eyes and see what it would look like if they were body-color. I think I would paint the gray rings though, whether body-color or black...or something else.

Fatherdeth,

1. What bulbs do these tails use?
2. You want to sell a set?

I was thinking of getting a set, replacing the bulbs with LED bulbs, and painting them...

tacky is the first thing that springs to mind on these. cant anyone keep the stock look and remanufacturer with no chrome and make the bottom side / brake light multiple leds. That would look the bomb.

2. I'm not ready to get rid of my other set. I'm keeping them for one of those just in case times. Go on eBay though. You'll find them for cheap.

Uhhhhh, no because people can do whatever they want to their car. You might think they look tacky, but I can guarantee my car probably looks 100 times better than yours even with the "tacky" taillights. And tonanswer your question with a question....Why don't you keep the stock look and remanufacture with no chrome and make the bottom side / brake light multiple leds?

Paint them

A quick mod on the stockers. I'm not oine for breaking them open so I took the shortcut....

-Taped off the showing chromeon the outside of the light
-Paited it with black krylon, took the tape off aand painted the whole light with glossy clear coat.

Not bad for a dollar two ninty eight!

Yea, I looked on ebay after I posted that and figured out that you would basically have to give them to me for me to save any $$.

Nice job keeping that strip uniform around the outside. Got any pics from further away?

I ordered mine last week and they got here in like 2 days! I ordered black but they sent me titanium by accident! Turns out it matched my car perfect and I love it!!! And they were only 38 bucks! Simple install and great mod!
