Interior/Exterior Another style of rear wiper delete (no plastic plug)

I don't understand why you guys do this. Give me a couple good reasons to take my rear wiper off? If its purely for looks, you guys really are, truly, Mini crazy. I would have to be pretty fanatic about the looks of my Mini to start taking off bits that help me see out.
I tell ya...You guys are crazy. ahaha

dont forget the added weight redux by removing the arm and the motor!
I found the rear wiper useless....especially after I disconnected the fluid in favor of having a sprayer on my intercooler.

Wow, that looks great. I noticed this is posted on the 1st gen forum, but I assume it'll work on an R56 all the same, right?
Also, is there a certain size that I should look for or will I need to try them out?

...while I'm not considering removing my rear wiper, I must say this is a pretty cool idea (esp. being a mt. biker of sorts as well as a MINI pilot).
I appreciate the creativity and ingenuity...carry on, brothers...

i used to use my wiper to clean the window of dirt and such.
i hated the arc of clean to dirty left on the glass though. it was like a way to show off JUST how dirty your car is.
once i tinted the rears (20%) i can't tell if the window was dirty or not, so i never EVER use the rear wiper.
are you guy's caps FLAT on the back?
i found a plain black cap today, but it was like this:

i haven't taken apart the wiper, so i have no idea how big the hole in the glass is. obviously i want it to sit flush, i'm afraid the cone shape here would interfere.

Here's mine.......

It's an FSA (Full Speed Ahead) handlebar insert.
Mine is shaped like yours. Had to file that bottom side lip down a bit as it was just a tad larger in diameter than the hole in the glass.
Bought it, the stainless bolt and the SFN all for 5 bucks at the local bike store. The grommit I got at HD.
I decided to delete my rear wiper on a whim this afternoon. Checked NAM, got tips on how, and set about it. My wiper had rusted on, and after an hour and a half of pulling, tugging, greasing, soaking, and prying, I ended up just sawing it off near the rear window. Guess it's permanent now.
Once I got it off, I realized I had no plan to plug the gap. Figured I'd use a plastic cap from HD or something. Clearly didn't think it all the way through. DOH! Then I found this thread.....
I just got back from my local bike shop. Got a carbon fiber set up for $6!
it has a logo on it, but it'll do for now. Hoping COOPERCARDS is still selling the ones with wings! If not, I was surprised how cheap they are online. GREAT idea, thanks!

This was indeed a great idea. I recently found this thread and did the same. $3.00 in parts from my local bike shop.
I found a Motobecane topcap which worked out great because:
1) The Motobecane logo is an M with wings underneath which works really well on the MINI
2) I actually own a Motobecane bicycle
I didn't even have to buy a different grommet. I found that if you just reverse the stock one it works perfectly.
I'd also buy one from COOPERCARDS though if he still sold the ones with the MINI logo.

There is a tiny bit of weight savings but mostly (at least for me) it's for looks.
I live in Texas where there isn't an overabundance of rainy days and I keep a fresh coat of RainX on my windshields for when it does. Works great.

I removed mine because it broke, I couldn't find a replacement locally, and I never use it. So why not? I think it's a aesthetic preference.
I'd like to remove mine because of the frustration of how poorly it works. In the winter it is worthless for clearing dirt/salt off the rear window. Looks ugly. Why not remove an ugly part that is useless?
I am a huge fan of the top-cap!
Here is my issue:
Not one person has addressed disabling the actual rear washer pump.
I want to know how to keep my headlight washers and make sure anyone driving my car can't run the rear washer.
Thinking about removing/swapping a relay due to the washer motor "swings both ways" :-)

I am going with a big NEGATIVE on that one Fireman.
As a temporary solution, sure, will hold a while but all rubber parts wear out. Plugging the line does NOT disable the actual pump.
And for the record, Fireman, NICE CAR! :-)
