Ok folks. I have managed to find the camera cable, so I've put the vid onto youtube. Its not very good to be honest, I will try to do another one soon. The exhuast sounds much better out on the road, especially when you change up from 2nd to 3rd under heavy acceleration.

This makes me even more sad about not having the chance for a D in the States. Nevertheless, nice Cooper!

Your car sounds great. I really wish that I could buy a diesel in the US.

It doesn't even sound like a diesel except for when idling. I am still curious to see some engine pics.

Ok, here are the engine bay pictures. The engine itself is a Toyota lump. The early cars had 75bhp, the later ones had 88bhp. The earlier engines did not have the plastic cover either, everything was exposed. The battery is located in the boot, as per the Cooper S.

Mine is an 06, so falls into the higher bhp catogory.

Thanks, It seems that diesels are more popular than I thought in America!

Yeh, the idle is the only thing I dislike about the diesel engine, it sounds like a tractor!

See the above post for the engine pics.

Thanks,

James.

the demand for a D would be quite high here i think. at least comparatively for the market. the wifey and i were looking to get her one. she loves my MINI and we looked at them for her but settled for a Yaris. i'm hoping to see the one D show up in the market in the next few years for her "upgrade".

I love the car. you and the "fallen Pregnant" made some great asthetic upgrades.

I'd love to have a Mini Diesel. Modern day version of the old VW rabbit diesel.

Yeh, they are a popular model over in mainland Europe. Especially in France, they love their diesels over there!

Shame you couldnt get a D for your wife. I know that the D couldnt be sold in the States because it doesnt meet the correct regs for all the states. You mention that you hope it might be avaliable in the future, so will it be possible for you to import one? Thanks for the compliment by the way!.

What was the VW rabbit diesel?

I'm not sure why, but I love seeing non-S Minis dressed up with aero kits and nice wheels like yours. It seems kind of innocent and playful compared to horsepower-obsessed S owners (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

A small car with a nice diesel is the only thing that I foresee giving up my Mini for. Congratulations on doing such a great job modifying yours. The exhaust is especially well done.
