Carbon Fiber on Center Stack, thread?

I am looking for the website that sells carbon fiber pieces that go around the center stack for 2007+ R56 MINI's.

I saw someone had a post of some photos installed and a link to where they got them. They looked like they were just stick-ons around the volume **** to fill in the "black".

I looked and looked can't find it if anyone knows where the thread is I would appreciate it.

I would consider it more of a vinyl decal than just a sticker. I have one and am pretty happy with the quality of the decal. I also think it looks great

I'm looking into these myself, and to be fair it's really more than a simple sticker. If you're familiar with the domed, cushy, vinyl decals that sort of bubble up in the middle and taper off on the sides, that's what this is. Much more aesthetically pleasing than a flat vinyl sticker.

That said, I think $35 is pretty reasonable for the custom-made 2-piece set in any one of a variety of patterns. I sorta liked the sound of the lightning blue/silver union jack, myself.

Sorry to dig this up again, but does anyone have a picture of the carbon-look cash kit installed? I'm trying to dig up pictures of all of the AC center-stack creations, but I'm not having much luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction it'd be greatly appreciated.

This is from Celia's MINI. You should check her car out, it's pretty awsome.

Has anyone seen any other patterns? At this point I'll definitely be ordering from AC, it's just a matter of deciding between all the different options...

I've got the Piano black and it looks great! The kit also includes the piece above the CD slot, not shown in the pic above.
Now when I get the black gauge faces from Vinyl Styles, everything will be tied together with the piano black theme. I hope to tackle that this weekend.

Do you happen to have any pics available of the center-stack?

I'm only concerned that if I go with the carbon-fiber center-stack but keep the standard sorta-checkered silver trim elsewhere in the car it will look out of place. Ditto the idea of a union jack. I can see as Piano-black would look great for you overall as I imagine you've already got the OEM Piano inserts.

I really just don't know the direction I want to go in with the interior of the car, but I know that middle sections needs some pizazz right off the bat.

Here you go! I took these photos today. Mike from AC is sending me the little piece that goes on top of the CD player so I'll have that soon.

I don't think it looks bad at all with the CF decal and the standard S silver checkers. However, I am replacing my silver checkers with more CF decal on the dash and door side panel rings. So, I won't have any silver checkers when I'm done.

Celia- thanks a lot, that looks great! Definitely throw up some pics when you get the other trim pieces in, in the meantime you've got me convinced I'm going to snap up the carbon decal at least, only pending some decent pics of the other dash options available (ie blue/silver UJ and checkers).

Is there any latest on when Mike will be coming out with the real CF piece for the centre stack? I seem to remember him saying he's going to be doing this along with the MFSW inserts. By the way Celia where are you getting the decals for the eliptical door rings? I've looked at other threads where you have to actually cut them out to have them wrapped and then epoxy them back in, I'd obviously like to avoid that if at all possible and if there's a better option!

I talked to Mike about a real CF dash as well as other real CF interior pieces and unfortunately for us (but good for him!), the popularity on the real CF door handle covers, gas cap, side markers, and head/tail light rings are SO popular that his CF guy is just swamped with orders and Mike doesn't want to dump another project on him right now.

So what that means is unfortunately, I don't think any other real CF pieces will be offered any time soon. I know Mike will get to it eventually but he needs to fulfill all his current orders first which might take a while.

As for the elliptical door rings, unfortunately, that's exactly we plan on doing. I'm having the entire interior customized with a new headliner, having the pillars reupholstered, etc. etc. I'm going to have various parts of the door redone and while we were at it, Sean said he wouldn't mind drilling out the door rings to remove them since the door panel would already be off. Those rings are heat rivetted on so that would be the only way to remove them.

However, instead of epoxying the back on, Sean was thinking of using short panhead screws to reattach them. The epoxy would work but he said it would be a permanent modification. With the panhead screws, it could be removed again if we needed/wanted to (I like change ). I plan on taking photos of the interior mods so I'll keep everyone posted as to how that goes!

Thanks,
Celia

Celia,

I noticed your interior door pull handle is Carbon Fiber instead of black plastic. Is it wrapped? or did you get a real CF piece? And where did you get it and what did you take apart to do it?

thanks...
Corey

Hey Corey,

Yes, it is wrapped so it's not real CF but my entire interior is the same stuff so everything matches. It was wrapped by Lyle of Vinyl Styles. That part is very easy to remove.

1.) Take off the speaker grill by lifting up underneath it and pulling outwards

2.) Next, take off the armrest cover by using your fingers and prying off the upper back edge

3.) Once you remove the armrest cover, there's a screw on each side. One under the speaker grill and one under the armrest. Remove the screws and the door pull comes right off.

Here are some recent photos of my interior with the matching CF stuff...

Question...."Next, take off the armrest cover by using your fingers and prying off the upper back edge"

So are you saying the armrest cover comes off by snaping the top edge near the rear of the door away from the door?

Sorry, don't have my car for another few weeks (still being built) so I don't have something infront to reference. But I do want to either wrap this piece or put the wood/brushed aluminum part in ASAP as this to me is the only really cheap looking part in the whole interior, Especially since you touch it everytime you close the door.

Hey guys,
A bit off topic but does anyone know how to remove the R56 dash, both sides of it. I have purchsed some CF vinyl and am eager to wrap the dash this weekend but I cant figure out how to get them off. I pulled the hex screws out of the passeger side glove box but the faux stanless checker dash is still attached some how. Any advice? Thank you all.

The driver side checkered trim just pries off, with some force. Im not sure about the passenger side... Probably just removing more screws.
