I made a universal Momo "Shadow" fit with a slight machining of the bezel that covers the 3 set screws. Otherwire, you need a **** made for the MINI.

You need a Whalen Shift Machine

The **** above is for the MCS, but Doug Whalen can do one with the 5-speed shift pattern or a custom engraving.

Okay, thanks.

Now my next question relates to the UUC product vs. the Whalen.

Please see my next new post above in this forum. I have a question relating to the height of each shift ****.

Whalens and UUC are nice. Don't forget a short height MOMO will work just fine. Adapters and screws are included
Prices are from $94 to $100 each.

Can anyone tell me how tall the MOMO Raptors are?

The Raptors look tall. I don't think they are a good choice unless you plan to cut the shifter down- too difficult.
Just look at my picture and pay attention to the MOMO standard locking ring. see how high it is and compare the height of the shifter in ring segment height units. Then look at your picture and see that if you do the same then your shifter is some 1 to 1.5 rings taller or roughly 2/3 to 7/8 inch taller than mine. I think my height is acceptable but I would not go higher or you will have a longer throw for each shift.

Minihune,

I just got the MOMO "Storm" shift **** from a local speed shop for a reasonable price but it seems a bit tall now. It's real comfortable and has helped in the ease of shifting but awkward because of the height (1/3 of an inch higher). Would you opt for a short shifter modification or is this dangerous?

My problem is that I need an all leather top. I like the ball shape of the stock shifter and the Whalens, but the metal gets too damn hot in Vegas. Burns my hand just about! :???:

You don't like the Raptor? I kinda like the unusualness of the hole in the middle. And, it looks like the entire area where my hand goes is leather.

Once again, sorry for the bad quality, I used the 'camera' non-function on my video camera.. I ordered it from http://www.epcomfg.com . It's hard to see, but it's an Ivory pool ball with the top section made of clear resin, with the 'M' logo under the clear section. (It's the logo from Speed Racer's Mach 5, if you're wondering why..) I ordered it with the universal mount, and it came with plastic inserts so you can make the diameter of the hole, and it's mounted with three set screws that are in a metal ring that's attached to the bottom of the ****. I did end up cutting down the shaft, and using a dremel to remove the small 'bump' where the standard know clicks into, but it's a VERY solid mount. And it's a custom job, it's perfectly round, and ultra-smooth...

and only 50 bux...

Rocketboy_X

(Oh, and the pics are from before I cut down the shaft, if you noticed it's riding high..)

The raptor does look kinda funky, in a bad way.

>>Thanks Pooky. That may be where I get my new **** from. They have a ball shape that the entire top 1/2 is cf. And only $30. Possible, possible. Does cf get hot like metal?

Agro,

I had a Ractive Carbon Fiber shift **** on my last car and it didn't get as hot as a full metal ****. The **** you mentioned may be the same one I had on my Civic, good choice. Good luck in your selection and post the pic if possible.

>>Rocketboy, I love your Speed Racer shifter! I recognized it before I read your post.
>>I think if I was going to go with a pool ball, I'd get an 8-ball and turn it 90 degrees so it would be the infinity symbol.
>>What can I say, I'm a geek. And proud of it!

Thanks... I've got a good camera now (well, for now ) i'll post some better pics...

But the **** really feels nice... Mrs. Rocketboy wasn't very impressed with a pool ball shift ****, untill she drove my MINI with it on (after the trim job), and she was Very impressed on how nice it feels...

I didn't notice that until now. Cool shifter Rocketboy, are you a speed racer fan? And does the sun have any effect on your shifter, any yellowing?

Oh yeah, by the way, I'm too lazy to look for that post on how to replace the shift ****. I remember minihune explaining to put the shift on 2nd gear and just yank it off, were you serious? seriously? hahahahaha. If that was a joke, what's the best way to replace the shifter. I know this is a repeat, but I'm lazy as hell right now.

I didn't get it yet, but here is the URL. Street Beat Online. Looks pretty nice to me.

Ivan, no that's not a joke. The stock shift **** is a pop-on, like the knee bolster you remove to install the parcel shelf. Pull up on it HARD and it just pops off. You can't use a new **** that screws on, coz there's no threads.
