Headlights

Has anybody seen this lights before? I think they look pretty cool but wonder if they are worth the money. Really wish I had a disposable income to try them out though.

This is a mod you can do yourself if you have the guts to screw around with your car. I believe it involves putting the headlamps in the oven ... which is a little intimidating. Then it's just a matter of painting the inside and re-assembling. Search the forum for "Joey mod" and you should find a couple good threads. Heck of a lot cheaper than the eBay item if you want to go for it.

I plan on doing this mod to my Mini when I get one, except with a Carbon Fiber inlay ... that is if I can work up the courage ... lol

Joey mod is definitely more cost effective...

Thanks. I've been wanting to do the joey mod for a while now, but those ebay lights are projector lights. Which are a lot nicer than my non-xenon lights I have now. I really doubt I would get those lights, but its something new so I thought I'd ask around. And if anyone in the Monterey or Orange County area has done a joey mod with really good results, how do you feel about helping out a fellow NAMer with this?

i dont know about these lights, but i have heard that non OEM projector lights often don't work well at all. i think aftermarket projector lights are made more for looks than performance, so im not sure if i would trust that these lights would be better than your stock lights.

not to mention these lights are listed as "JDM" which i dont think is a trustworthy description for european car parts.

I agree that certainly isn't just the joey mod, but I do think there is a thread on this already, where I think they were tried out. Now what it was called I don't remember so finding it may take me a while....

I ordered these and they'll be here Monday, so I'll let you know how they work out.

I agree they're probably not the best quality, but I was going to pay $100+ for headlight rings, plus have to joey mod the headlights or something similar to achieve the look I was going for.

So, hopefully it will achieve my purpose. Some people have them on, but not these exact ones...the ones with the chrome rings and black headlights.

I'll take pics on Monday or Tuesday when they're on

Hmm ... didn't realise they had the headlight rings too. Maybe it's a little more worth the money if you don't already have Xeons or something. Although the headlight rings do look better chrome on certain colour vehicles even with the Joey mod.

I'll look forward to hearing your experience with them as well as pictures. See if they are a brand worth looking in to.

Yeah, that last car (I think it's AB?) is the one that made me want them. But, I'm trying to black out most of my chrome, so I made sure when ordering that I asked the buyer if they had the black rings because I really didn't want the chrome to pop like that on mine.

It looks good on that car because of the white top and everything, but I'm just going for a different look.

The silver car is a Sunshine Minis car, and I think I might get to see it in person this weekend.

Either way, I'll post pics of the lights on Monday or Tuesday when installed

I had the JDM projector lights in my Chevy Cobalt and for the money they weren't bad. Quality wasn't perfect, but the did fit well and they had the dual Halo lights like the BMW's. I added an ONEX HID kit with 8K bulbs and other than being a pain to adjust I didn't have any problems with them.

I just realized that it says 02-05. I have an '05...didn't they change the headlight design in 05?

Am I possibly going to have fitment issues with these?

They changed between 04 to 05. It says 02-05 so I think you shouldn't have a problem. Also, did they change the plugs too, or just the lights themselves? Good luck. I am still excited to see how they turn out and work.

they dont look like they fit flush. Theres a bit of a gap at the bottom of the chrome ring.

I think that's just a reflection, isn't it? There are some other pictures and I can't see that it's an issue.

I dont see it on the right side, so it may just be a flaw.

Here ya go...rough pics taken by my camera phone, but I love the lights. Also blacked out the rings and my side repeaters.

Looks very sweet! You have an awesome ride. Have you noticed a difference in the light output of the headlights?
