Show me your iPod mount

After my Samsung MP3 player died over the weekend, I broke down and joined the iPod cult with a new Nano 8g. There's not a great place in the car to put it where I can access it easily. Anyone have pictures of your solutions? I was looking into maybe something that fits into the cupholder and has a bracket? Other ideas? I want something that is functional and will not detract from the look of the my interior.

This is a Griffin TuneFlex AUX Flexible Charging Cradle purchased from the Apple Store online.

Caveats: It would probably hold a Nano up fine, but sags with my 60 GB iPod. So, I had to put a little Velcro on the side to keep it in place. Also, my cigarette lighter socket seems to have gotten broken. It no longer has power and the fuse is not blown. The Griffin has a rubber flange on the power plug that holds it in the socket securely. However, it makes it difficult to remove. I think the poorly made MINI cigarette socket was not up to the force required to remove the Griffin.

I haven't taken the MINI in yet to have the socket fixed. Waiting for a convenient time.

I just have mine resing in the concave tray under the parking brake. With the silicon rubber skin on my 60g it stays put just fine and doesn't look odd or out of place.

Same - keep it under the parking brake. No skin or cover and it still doesn't move around much.

Check out ProClip. They make mounts for the R56. It's possible they have Ipod mount combo for it.

How about the Ipod connector in the secret compartment? Works like a charm and you can see the track info on your radio too. If you have the multi function steering wheel you can operate your ipod from the steering buttons.

I'm going to have to check out that area under the brake lever. Robin - I really like the way yours looks and it seems like it's easily accessible to you while you're driving as well! I will keep your experience w/the lighter in mind.

The "secret compartment" is a good place if you have the official kit.

I like the idea Also, where do you keep your ipod when your not using it or you've parked your car for the day? In the car which may get hot and affect the life of it or do you take it indoors?

If I don't feel safe leaving it in the car I'll either put it in the secret compartment, or in my pocket.

This is an old Belkin cupholder I got for an older player. It holds my G5 with case on tightly, but I have to cutout the bottom so I can plug in the dock connector (sounds way better than a headphone wire). So now I use the tray under the brake. That should be fine for a Nano.
