Can anyone tell me how to get the arm pad off of an 02 door panel? I want to paint the ring and can't get it off, and all I found was for the new '05-'06 how to and that didn't seem to work for me. Thanks in advance.

They are stuck on with the equivalent of double sided tape, and three teeny-tiny torx screws at the bottom that go in from the panel side. I have yet to figure out a way to get those screws in/out with the panel in place. The easiest method would be to just pry it off from the top - the screws will just pull through the plastic.
I had one come off of a panel that was shipped to me. To put it back on I just removed the screws and used carpet tape to stick it back on.
Let us know if you come up with a more elegant solution!
