Steering Wheel Has Been Upgraded!

I installed the JCW Steering Wheel today... I have the 'smooth' version.

[EDIT: Added a photo]

WOW. What a major difference. Seriously.

This JCW wheel is soooo comfortable... and it's wider and feels more like a go-kart steering wheel!

I had previously started another thread about the stock steering wheel... I found it very uncomfortable... it was way to too stiff. I have large hands and they would start to hurt after driving for an extended period of time -- probably because the stock wheel is quite thin and my fingers have to bend more.

I'm definitely glad I invested in the JCW. It was well worth it.

To get this post back on topic, glad to hear you like the JCW wheel. What material is it? How did you find the install?

It's made of leather. The install wasn't too bad. Only took about 15 minutes or so. Adam from ALTA posted a great PDF with step-by-step instructions and I just followed it. Pretty easy install.

Was it a multi-function version?

I went the cheap route and got a Wheelskins cover. I like it. Haven't tried the JCW wheel.

Yes. I had to disconnect the air bag and the other electronics, then switch the silver cover plates to the new wheel and then move everything back. Wasn't too bad.

Aye, aye! Let's see some pictures of your new steering wheel. I'm thinking of getting it for my MINI coming up, but haven't been able to find some good pictures.

was your stock steering wheel a two spoke one or three spoke? I want to buy the jcw wheel, but I keep hearing conflicting reports on if it will fit a car that had a two spoke stock or not...

Yikes, $700-1000 to convert from 2 spoke to 3 spoke? Well I guess I'll just stick to my stock. Nothing really wrong with it, but i just wanted the JCW wheel really bad though
