Im going for the Black out look on my mini and Im trying to figure out if the door handles are made of metal or not , i think it would be better to powdercoat them if they are metal. the body shop by my house thinks they are made out of pot metal but hes not 100% sure, does anybody know about this? the handle seems cooler to the touch which makes me think its some sort of metal, magnet doesnt work on it though. Any suggesttions on how to get them black if they arent metal?

The door handles are plastic. I am doing a set for a customer's R56 as we speak.

How to get them black, have a body shop do them or check us out.

 

They are plastic. I had Lagston wrap a set in black vinyl, then swapped them onto my car. The look pretty good IMO.

 

Yup! They's plastic! Although on some of the 02's they made 'em metal.

 

I've had good luck with Bull Dog Adhesion Promoter for plastics (http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp). Sand with 600, apply then paint with Wurth European Blend (http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...RTH-0893351930) and then clearcoat.
