MyMiniParts fake CF Hood Scoop

I'm in the market for a CF hood scoop and mirror caps and just came across a 'CF look-alike' on MyMiniParts.com (http://www.myminiparts.com/proddetail.php?prod=CFHS).

Since it's much cheaper than the real JCW CF hood scoop, I'm wondering how it looks. With the money saved, I could go for some other mods

Anybody have or have seen these on a MCS?

Thanks!

I hate to say it but fake CF looks like fake CF. It's like having fake *****, you'll get attention but everyone will know it's phony.

I'm not trying to be harsh, just being honest.

I thought about using the Mini-made CF overlays on my dash. It is real CF from Mini, but from what I could tell would look fake. I ultimately decided against it. I have the Mini-made CF down tubes and the M7 CF air diverter and the M7 CF hood scoop. Given the other things I have done and want to do, using even the Mini-made CF dash kit overlay was not for me. YMMV.

carbon fiber hood scoop that i have weighs more than the stock metal one. the inside hole is maybe 14 sq. MM bigger than stock. At $200.00 I think the money could be spent elsewhere more effectivly.

Your stock hood scoop was metal? Between our two MINIs, we've had four OEM scoops (Pepper White, Chrome, Cool Blue and JCW carbon fiber), and they've all been ABS plastic. (The JCW scoop is carbon fiber over ABS).

Is the opening in the JCW scoop larger than stock, or is it just a stock scoop with CF overlay?

All stock scoops(including JCW) are plastic, and all have the same aperture. The only way to get a larger aperture is to buy aftermarket from M7 or PU.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go with the JCW CF scoop. Can get a used one for $175, which seems like a good deal.
