honestly, i'd rather look at the light than pay 200+ for when I'm running a different set of tires, that combined with the possibility that the sensors might not even fit, replacing batteries, is just too much for me. Maybe I can short out the light?

sorry if i'm complaining, but I'm still in school so 200 can go a long way.

Yeah I hear ya. I hope this doesn't turn into a nightmare when I get my new wheels.

[quote=aem421;1734561]UPDATE:

I talked to the guys at TireRack. If you have the new monitoring system, you are going to have to swap out the sensors and valve stems into the new wheels. You need to check to make sure this is possible on the new wheel. For the ones I want, it is possible .

Just got my ASA's from TireRack. I'll let you guys know how this all works out in the next week or so when I have the sensors pulled out and put in the new wheels.
BTW, any one know how long the batteries are supposed to last?

They're lithium batteries, and the designed lifespan is about ten years.

Sweet...that's a relief. I thought I was going to have to change these things like every two years or something. Thanks for that info.

Currently watching the TPMS light

My new 18' Verde Black Ice wheels and 215 35R18 tires went on Friday (R56 Sept. 07 production). I chose not to purchase the news valves. I simply removed the old wheels and rims and sat them in the garage. The TPMS light showed up immediately. Upon start the light shows up below the tach. I press the button on the turn indicator and it goes off and another TPMS light starts blinking on the speedometer. It blinks for about 30 seconds and then stays on until I turn off the car. I am currently wondering how long it will take for this light to burn out.

Does anyone know how to "disable" this little light?

Yea, take the sensors out of the old wheels and put them in the new wheels.

Isn't this an LCD icon, rather than a light behind a gel?
