Interior/Exterior 3M Clear Bra
3M Clear Bra
Hi,
What are you guys paying for material and installation for basic coverage, hood, bumper cover, headlights, and mirrors? I was quoted $600. I've added this to all my prior cars, it seems like the price of the material is much higher now than 2 years ago...
3M says that the material is a generation III? whats that mean? I'm beginning to wonder if it value added to put this stuff on or just have a re-spray done at a body shop when needed.

With the increase in gas prices, petroleum-based plastics have increased in price significantly too. Some similar 3M optical products my company purchases have seen similar price adjustments in the last year or so.
I had my R50 done in October for around $800, but mine had a few more areas done than you described - they also did the rear bumper step, door handle cups, the door edges, and edges around the gas flap. My installer also included a good warranty on the film and workmanship, which I had to use a couple of weeks ago when I got a chip clear through the film. They took off the old piece, touched up the paint, reinstalled new film and installed new stripes and I didn't have to pay them a dime. The warranty alone was worth the little extra I paid compared to other installers in the area.
Just purchased a clear bra kit-8mil-on ebaymotors for a fraction of the price in the retail world. Since I have installled light and rear bumper covers, I will do this install and save approximately $400. It's easy to do. Just takes patience and time.

OK buzzsaw...is there a secret to the whole clear bra thing? I bought the headlight covers off of eBay. I have been outside for half of the day trying to get rid of those pesky puckers, and yet they prevail. When I started, I thought it would be fairly easy (I have tinted windows before), and planned on doing my own clear bra. Now I just want to get the other headlight done, and not spend the rest of the week doing it. Got any tips? Thanks in advance!
