I want stripes, but I have the 3m tape on my front end.

Hi Guys, I have a dark grey Cooper S, with the 3m clear bra on the front end. I REALLY want some stripes or something similar, but it looks like the all the stipes would interfear with the clear bra on my car. I dont want to remove the clear bra either. Do I have any other options?

Thanks!

Jay

I do believe you can still do it over the bra. I believe most people recommend you do it above the bra in fact. Vinyl can be removed, and if you chose to do so, if it were under the bra you would not be able to.

Talk to Dragonflyer at AestheticCreations. He would be most knowledgeable, as he installs this kind of stuff all the time, and he would have the RIGHT answer, where-as most of us probably just have opinions.

Wagnbat is right. I have a clear bra and have stripes installed over it. Since the adhesive on the clear bra is stronger than that on the stripes, it is generally recommened to do it that way.

It is also recommended to go over the bra because it is alot cheaper to re-apply stripes then it is to re-apply a bra. Lets say you get tired of your stripes and you want to take them off, you peel them up. But if you have them UNDER the bra, the bra comes off so the stripes can come off. Then another $300+ to put a new bra on.

Yup, I have mine this way as well, and it actually worked out sort of backwards for me - I had a chip through the clear bra and had to have that section replaced...in the process they had to remove the stripes over the clear bra. BUT because it was all warrantied, they paid for the new stripes, and will reinstall them for me when they arrive. But you're far more likely to have to replace a stripe than the clear bra, so it's better to have it done that way. I had an installer try to get me to "cut out" the area around the stripes but that freaked me out so I went with a different guy.

The cut out idea seems like it would be a viable option, but if you were to ever decide to go stripless, you'd have to gaping holes of no coverage in a big hit area ...
