It's not as thin as regular vinyl, but is quite flexible when heated with a heat gun.

I don't yet know the answer to that. I'd definitely use adhesion promoter on the edges of a roof installation.

Cost?

 

I got a 4ft roll on ebay for $30 shipped and applied some this weekend. I used a hair dryer to heat and stretch around the curves. It was the 1st time for me and I found it fairly easy to apply. I have to get some more so i can do my door panels, headlight rings, etc...

Looks pretty good. Did you take off the pieces on your steering wheel to apply or did you apply it on the pieces left on the steering wheel?

 

We removed the parts to wrap them, the re-installed them afterwards.

Let me tell you all from experience, this stuff is beautiful BUT:
its not great in hot areas like Florida were it reaches 100*F. The film tends to bubble or peal around hard corners.
I have this stuff for over a year on my STi and want to put it on my Mini but decided to go with a different look instead of carbonfiber for the Mini. I went with textured gloss black Di-noc film.

I puruchased tons of stuff from Mach V/fastwrx for my Subie and they have great services. My question to them is, If your wrapping hard curves like lips and wings, how do you prevent it from bubbling around such curves under extreme heat? Do you use another adhesive that gets sprayed on-top-of the Di-noc adhesive?

Here's a few pics of my carbon fiber and textured black. The textured black is the same as the black molding around the car so it matches perfectly. I even made the hood & trunk stripe myself from this stuff!

 

Not on top, but we use an adhesion promoter first on difficult parts (edges that are likely to peel, for example). When used with the adhesion promoter, the adhesive is VERY tenacious.

I live in Florida too and it's been over a year with my 3M Di-noc and its still looks good as new. The worst part about this stuff is when you wax the car you can't go over the film cuz it gets caught between the fine lines of the carbon fibers textured lines.

This is on my lil subie....

 

Not to be nosey but, on that picture with the dash. Where'd you get that checkered badge thats there. That's really awesome. Wouldn't mind having on of those!

 

can a automotive clear coat be applied over it so that it would last longer on exterior applications?

 

No. It's textured and the paint would not adhere well.

Mines been holding up pretty good here in FL.
I have had it on for about 6 months, during the worst summer months, and it is still looking great.
I do recommend adding a touch more to vinyl to whatever you are applying it to, as it tends to shrink a bit after application.
