Disable Key Fob Continuous Broadcast?
Hi all,
I'm sure you've seen that organized crime thieves are using easily obtained readers to analyze the signal that is constantly transmitted between a key-fob and car to take a copy of the key fob security profile and copy it into a 'blank' RF keyfob. They then come by in the dead of night and simply use their copy to open, start and drive the car away. Several automakers, Toyota for one, have devised a button sequence that will temporarily disable the fob broadcast. Is there a similar temporary disable method for our F-series Minis? I've looked through the user manual and searched online. Further, can I permanently disable use of the fob broadcast and require use of the fob lock/unlock button? Three of our 4 cars for the family now have no-touch fobs (2x Mini, 1x BMW). We can drop them in a faraday box at home, but i'm more concerned about my kids in college, wife going shopping, etc.
Recommendations? Temporary and Permanent disable broadcast options?
TIA
