Friend has a 2008 hardtop N/A Cooper. Unfortunately he live in Maryland, so I cannot physically see whats going on.

His key fob allowed him to walk up to the vehicle without touching the key fob buttons, and it would automatically unlock the doors. He fooled around in the center gauge, turning things on and off, and now the doors won't unlock without touching the key fob. I can't recall the last time, nor do I know of any car where you walk up to it and it automatically unlocks without touching the key fob button, usually for safety reasons. Can anybody confirm the R56 does that, and if so, how to reprogram the key fob to turn it back on? thanks.

 

Don't have it on any of my MINIs but appears he has Comfort Access option.

Not sure if he can reprogram it himself or if the dealership will need to do it. Someone on here will answer that one though, I'm sure.

 

On mine I can set door lock options for comfort access in the settings.

 

you should be able to go into the on board computer and adjust the comfort access system. If he needs help aboutyourmini.com is going to be great place for them to see how to adjust those settings.
