Electrical :: Change paddle shift scheme to standard/normal/usual

Hi.

Since I tried the paddle shifts it bothered me the unconventional scheme:
pull = upshift
push = downshift

So I made it the way most other cars have:
left pull = downshift
right pull = upshift

Here's how you do it:

Original wireing:

Corrected:

As you can see, the brown wire comming from the main connector should be connected (soldered) to brown wire comming from the right paddle. The red wire from the main connector should be soldered to the brown (yellow) wire comming from the left paddle.
Be sure to prrotect all the connections and cutted wires. Everything you do is at your own risk!

Peter

PS: sorry for my english...

Sorry to revive such an old thread...but I stumbled across this a few years ago and it worked successfully for both my R53 and R56. I've seen a lot of posts regarding this mod and not a lot of people have a definite answer, but this is the proper way to do it and it does work. Thanks to the OP for sharing this.

I'll take some pics when I get home, it's pretty straightforward. I cut and stripped the wires and then used some heat shrink tubing to keep them connected. The only thing is that nothing happens anymore when you press down on both paddles, but that doesn't really bother me. They're like little thumb de-stressers when I'm stuck in traffic
