overheating?

hey guys,

my 02 MCS seems like it overheats this past couple of days when i idle too long. i seems like when the AC is running it does that. i also noticed that before this happened, my fan would kick in after i park the MCS (hardly did that before). any thoughs? and since my warrenty expires in sept., i wonder is this covered??:impatient

If the Power Steering pump and fan has never been replaced that is where I would start. Be sure they change the pump and the wiring to add the extra fuse. It's a common problem that causes overheating.

Good luck,

Rich

yeah, check out the above stuff...but i believe our cars tend to suck up the coolant fairly quickly also. i check mine at least every month with all the miles i drive weekly. and i think those early model mini's did have some coolant tank recall or warranty stuff done on 'em.

it's resolved. seems like the new radiator had enough coolent when it came out of the shop but not enough (6 months ago). i checked it today, added some 50/50 coolent and she holds! so i even sat in rush hour today just to test it out and it's fine now...so hopefully it was just that.. luckly i had today off (my mental holiday from work ) and figure this out...but thanks for everyones helpful hints!

and i got a helpful hint from my friend who works on chevys...use a black light to check for leaks (toxic green shows up best with a black light)..

Since you have lost some coolant, and you have an '02, make sure you check your coolant overflow tank - they leak at the seam. If it is white instead of a yellowish color, get it changed before your warranty runs out. The overflow tank is the big plastic tank right in the middle of the engine bay.

Hope that helps!
Randy
